PMS 2225 C is part of the Pantone Matching System (PMS), which is widely utilized for color specification in branding, marketing, and industrial design. This color presents as a clean, technical, and moderately saturated blue that reads cool, professional, and assertive. With a mid-range light reflectance value (LRV 57.01), PMS 2225 C can deliver both visual prominence and versatility against a wide range of substrates.

PMS 2225 C appears as a medium-light blue, with a lightness that makes it visible but not overly bright (LRV 57.01). PMS 2225 C tends toward the cool side of the spectrum, with a noticeable blue undertone. The color is moderately saturated, offering vividness without being overly intense. PMS 2225 C carries a clearly bluish undertone with minimal perceptible green or purple shift. The perceived hue and chromaticity of PMS 2225 C may be sensitive to lighting conditions and surface finish, with glossier finishes enhancing saturation.

PMS 2225 C works well in applications where a contemporary, visible blue is required that does not overpower adjacent visual elements. It maintains clarity and color fidelity under a range of lighting types but may shift slightly in very yellow or very cool lighting. Apply to substrates with a uniform and neutral base coat to prevent undertone shift. Compared to other mid-blues, PMS 2225 C skews slightly cooler and is less muted, so it can read crisper or more technical, depending on surrounding colors and finish choice.

Similar colors:
PMS 2172 C: Slightly lighter and exhibits higher chroma, resulting in a brighter and more vibrant blue.

PMS 2196 C: Noticeably darker, providing a more subdued and technical appearance.

PMS 2185 C: Marginally more neutral with less apparent saturation, useful for a less assertive blue presence.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2225 C

What should I know about matching Pantone PMS 2225 C across different materials and finishes?

Pantone PMS 2225 C is a moderately saturated, cool blue that can look different depending on the substrate, finish, and lighting. MyPerfectColor matches this Pantone target as closely as possible for paint, but be aware that finish (such as gloss or matte), underlying base color, and even texture can affect the final appearance. This is particularly true for vibrant blues, which may appear brighter or duller based on these factors. Consistent results are best achieved by using the same material, finish, and application method across all components intended to match PMS 2225 C.

How long does it take to receive paint matched to Pantone PMS 2225 C?

Paint made to match Pantone PMS 2225 C is produced to order. Typical production lead time depends on the format you choose and current production volume. Spray paint is often shipped within a few business days, but larger or custom liquid paint orders may require additional time. For tight project deadlines, place your order as early as possible and consider confirming lead time during checkout.

When should I order a sample before full production of Pantone PMS 2225 C paint?

Ordering a sample of Pantone PMS 2225 C is strongly recommended for large, brand-visible installations, permanent displays, or when color approval is required by stakeholders. Sampling helps confirm the color appearance on your actual substrate and under your lighting conditions. This is especially important for PMS 2225 C, as lighting and substrate can noticeably affect how this blue is perceived. Sampling reduces risk and can help avoid rework or delays during project execution.

What are the safety and VOC considerations for using paint matched to Pantone PMS 2225 C?

Safety and VOC (volatile organic compound) regulations for Pantone PMS 2225 C paint depend on the specific type of paint you select, such as spray paint, epoxy, or urethane. Always review the product label and consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for the exact material you are using. Follow safe handling, ventilation, and personal protective equipment guidance for all painting projects involving PMS 2225 C or other colors.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 2225 C?

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2225 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
