Pantone™ PMS 2221 C

The perceived color of PMS 2221 C can be noticeably affected by the texture of your substrate. Smooth or glossy surfaces reflect more light, making PMS 2221 C appear deeper and more saturated. Rough or matte surfaces scatter light and increase shadowing, which can make the color look lighter or less intense. For brand-sensitive uses, it is best to evaluate samples of PMS 2221 C on your actual substrate and finish to confirm visual consistency before committing to a large installation.

PMS 2221 C in a gloss finish will deliver a stronger, more saturated appearance with greater visual impact, but may introduce glare under strong lighting. Matte finishes reduce glare and reflection, providing a subtler look that can be easier to read up close, but may mute the intensity of this vivid blue. Consider your display's viewing distance and lighting conditions: gloss is often preferred for high-visibility areas or when maximum color punch is needed, while matte is practical if minimizing reflections is critical for close-up or under direct lighting.

When specifying PMS 2221 C for retail or branded pop-up installations, assess the durability requirements for foot traffic and handling as well as lighting conditions, because both will affect how the color appears. Always sample PMS 2221 C on your intended substrate and in planned lighting to ensure the desired outcome. Because PMS colors can shift in appearance depending on sheen and environment, preview the result before full-scale rollout and consider extra coats for full saturation on large, high-visibility areas.

PMS 2221 C paint is intended for brand reproduction and display projects, not for touch-up or repair. If you need touch-up grade accuracy for existing coatings or parts, the best practice is to send a physical sample of the original material for a custom match. This ensures the new paint aligns with the specific substrate, gloss, and color as it appears in your unique environment. Standard PMS 2221 C may not visually match pre-existing finishes even if the original was specified by Pantone code.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
