PMS 2192 C is a designated spot color within the Pantone PMS system, widely specified for brand and marketing applications where reliable violet color reproduction is required. This color conveys a modern, vibrant, and assertive visual presence, with a bold, technical, and attention-getting vibe. The system/collection is Pantone PMS, a standardized system frequently used in brand guidelines, display fabrication, and industrial design to achieve cross-material color consistency.

PMS 2192 C presents as a dark, highly saturated violet. The color has a distinct cool tendency, with noticeable blue undertones. It exhibits high chroma, contributing to its vivid, pronounced appearance. Undertones remain consistently blue, reinforcing its cool, modern visual effect. LRV of 25.31 indicates moderately low reflectance, so the color reads noticeably deep but not truly dark. The color is sensitive to finish choice; higher gloss can increase perceived brightness and saturation, while matte finishes may mute its vibrancy.

PMS 2192 C is often used in marketing activations and visual displays demanding distinctive purple-violet brand expression. The color is specified for fabricated interior or event elements where fidelity to digital or printed brand standards is required.

PMS 2192 C is chosen when a clearly defined, cool violet with strong visual assertiveness is needed for display, prototype, or brand-sensitive projects. Surfaces intended for this color should be well-prepared to prevent substrate color from affecting vibrancy; highly saturated colors like this can require additional coats for uniform coverage, especially over contrasting base colors. Lighting conditions may slightly shift perception between more blue or more purple, so always evaluate samples under intended lighting and finish before large-scale production. This color maintains its chromaticity better than less saturated violets, but matte finishes can noticeably soften its appearance.

Similar colors:

PMS 2685 C – Noticeably darker and deeper, appearing closer to a royal or grape violet.

PMS 2080 C – More chromatic with a bluer hue, shifting towards an electric blue-violet.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2192 C

How does the surface texture affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 2192 C on my project?

The perceived color of Pantone PMS 2192 C can change noticeably based on the surface texture. Smooth surfaces reflect light more evenly, which often increases vibrancy and makes this violet appear richer. On textured or matte surfaces, shadowing and diffuse reflection can make PMS 2192 C look slightly darker or less saturated. For brand-sensitive projects, always evaluate a sample of PMS 2192 C on the actual substrate with the intended texture before moving into production to ensure the visual result matches expectations.

Should I choose a matte or gloss finish when using Pantone PMS 2192 C for display or brand applications?

For Pantone PMS 2192 C, gloss finishes will increase the color's perceived brightness and saturation, giving a more vivid impact under direct lighting. This is often preferred for eye-catching displays or branding elements. Matte finishes will reduce glare and soften the color, which can help in environments with strong overhead lights or where visual fatigue is a concern. Consider viewing distance and ambient light: gloss works best for bold, close-up features, while matte may suit large or ambient-backdrop installations. Always review samples of PMS 2192 C in your project's actual lighting before making a final finish decision.

Why is Pantone PMS 2192 C not recommended for touch-up applications on existing products or coatings?

Pantone PMS 2192 C specifies a target color but does not define finish, texture, or substrate. Small differences in gloss, surface preparation, or material can cause visible mismatches even if the same color code is used. Because of this, PMS 2192 C is not reliable for touch-up work on pre-existing finishes. It is best used when the goal is brand color alignment on new or consistently prepared surfaces, rather than as a repair or spot match solution.

What product formats are available for Pantone PMS 2192 C, and how do I choose?

Pantone PMS 2192 C is available in several formats suited for branding and display projects, including custom spray paint, paint pens, brush-in-cap bottles, and other coatings where specified. Spray paint is widely used for smooth, uniform coverage on fabricated elements. Paint pens and brush-in-cap bottles are suitable for detail work or small prototypes. When selecting a format, consider the size of the area, the type of substrate, and application method needed for your brand experience or display component.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2192 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
