PMS 2175 C, from the Pantone PMS collection, displays a deep and saturated blue-violet hue. This color is often characterized as modern, bold, vivid, technical, and memorable. The tone communicates strong visual impact and offers high visibility on many substrates, aligning with brand-centric and marketing-focused applications requiring both distinctiveness and consistency.

- PMS 2175 C appears distinctly dark, with a measured LRV of 14.38, situating it on the lower end of the lightness scale.
- The color demonstrates a cool overall temperature, with blue and violet tones dominating its appearance.
- PMS 2175 C is highly saturated, resulting in a visually intense and striking color field.
- The undertone reads as a pure, blue-violet with no overt greying or muting influences.
- This color can be notably finish-sensitive, where higher-gloss finishes tend to amplify its saturation and apparent depth, while matte finishes can subtly mute the vibrancy.

PMS 2175 C is used to convey strong brand presence and high visibility, especially in promotional settings and display components where vivid color is required. It is effective in environments where distinct identity is needed, but it should be evaluated under actual lighting conditions since brightness and chroma may be affected by ambient light and surface finish. When considering PMS 2175 C versus close alternatives, expect greater visual strength and cooler tonality. Adequate priming and surface preparation are essential for achieving uniform coverage, particularly on lighter substrates.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 2727 C presents as a lighter, cooler blue with less violet content and higher perceived brightness.
  • PMS 2386 C is a slightly more chromatic blue-violet, appearing a bit more vibrant but with similar coolness.
  • PMS 2738 C is darker and more muted, offering a subtler, more restrained take on the blue-violet family.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2175 C

How does the finish or sheen affect how PMS 2175 C appears on brand displays?

The finish or sheen you select for PMS 2175 C significantly influences its visual intensity. Gloss and high-sheen finishes typically make PMS 2175 C appear deeper and more saturated, amplifying its blue-violet character. In contrast, matte and lower-sheen finishes tend to soften the vibrancy and mute the perceived depth of the color. For brand and display projects where maintaining a bold, vivid appearance is critical, carefully consider how finish choices will impact satisfaction with the final result. It is a best practice to evaluate a sample of PMS 2175 C in the actual finish under intended lighting conditions before finalizing production.

Where can I find the SDS for paint made in PMS 2175 C?

The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for paint made in PMS 2175 C depends on the specific paint product or formulation, not the color code alone. To locate the SDS, identify the exact product you plan to use (for example, spray paint or paint pen) and visit the SDS section for that product on the site. The SDS provides important safety and handling information tailored to the paint type, regardless of the color.

Are there special challenges in matching PMS 2175 C for branded projects?

PMS 2175 C is a highly saturated, dark blue-violet color that can be more challenging to match than less intense hues. Variables such as substrate, finish, and lighting can all affect appearance. MyPerfectColor uses advanced techniques to achieve high visual accuracy for PMS 2175 C, but you should remember that even small differences in material or finish may result in subtle shifts from the Pantone reference. Reviewing samples in your intended application environment is recommended for critical branding projects.

What is the best way to improve coverage when using PMS 2175 C paint?

Because PMS 2175 C is a saturated and dark color, achieving a uniform appearance may require more than one coat, especially over light or uneven substrates. For optimal results, apply a suitable primer or undercoat that aligns with the color family, then follow with multiple coats of PMS 2175 C as needed. This approach supports even hiding and consistency, which is crucial for brand displays and environments.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 2175 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 2175 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 2175 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
