PMS 2138 C from the Pantone PMS collection is a moderately dark, highly saturated, cool-toned violet with a noticeable blue bias. Its appearance is assertive, technical, and modern, with a color vibe best described as bold, impactful, energetic, and contemporary. This color serves as a precise reference for design and manufacturing when consistent visual identity is essential.
PMS 2138 C exhibits a distinctly cool tone with a strong blue-violet character. The color presents as medium-dark in value, with an LRV (Light Reflectance Value) of 17.74. PMS 2138 C has a high chroma, resulting in vivid saturation and strong color presence. The hue is situated in the blue-to-violet region, imparting a technical and modern quality. Strong saturation means PMS 2138 C may be more sensitive to shifts arising from changes in finish (e.g., gloss vs. matte) and lighting conditions. The color contains subtle bluish undertones, making it appear crisper and slightly cooler than more neutral violets.
PMS 2138 C is suited for applications where high visual impact and strict color consistency are required, such as branded displays, signage, and prototype elements. Its saturated blue-violet composition benefits from controlled lighting and appropriate substrate preparation, as hue and perceived depth may shift under different finishes or ambient conditions. Compared to less saturated or warmer purples, PMS 2138 C will appear stronger and may require more coats to achieve full opacity and uniform appearance, especially on lighter or high-contrast surfaces.

To maintain consistency for PMS 2138 C across multiple orders, always specify the same product type, substrate, and sheen. Aim to use the same approval process each time, such as referencing an agreed sample or Pantone standard. Variations in sheen or finish can cause PMS 2138 C to appear lighter, darker, or more saturated, making visual consistency harder to control. Always evaluate the new production under your installation lighting to confirm alignment with the previously approved result.
PMS 2138 C is a highly saturated blue-violet, making it more sensitive to shifts in sheen. Higher gloss finishes will make the color appear brighter and more vivid, while matte finishes can make it look softer and less intense. When specifying PMS 2138 C, select the sheen based on the intended viewing distance, substrate material, and lighting conditions. Keep in mind that changing the sheen can alter both appearance and brand alignment, so use the finish that matches your project specifications or approval sample.
Pantone PMS 2138 C is a defined color standard used across branding, display, and design projects. Using a licensed and authorized reproduction ensures your project meets Pantone's color target with the accuracy expected by brand and quality teams. MyPerfectColor is formally authorized to mix PMS 2138 C and matches the official Pantone reference, helping maintain visual consistency across materials and orders.
When using PMS 2138 C for branded displays or prototypes, order a sample in the intended product type and sheen before committing to a full production run. Evaluate the sample under the lighting and on the substrate it will be used with, as finish and ambient light can change the way PMS 2138 C appears. This process helps secure approval from stakeholders and avoids surprises in large builds.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2138 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
