Pantone® PMS 2128 C. Paint And Spray Paint. MyPerfectColor is the official licensee of Pantone and authorized to reproduce the Pantone Matching System colors in spray paint and other paints.

PMS 2128 C is a member of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, which is widely referenced for brand specification and color consistency across various materials. The color presents as a vibrant and moderately deep blue-violet, exhibiting a balanced mid-level brightness. The overall vibe is modern, vivid, and distinctive, with a cool and technical character suited to visual identities requiring strong differentiation.

- PMS 2128 C appears as a moderately dark blue-violet with an LRV of 45.73, providing mid-level light reflectance and visual presence. - The color exhibits a cool temperature, leaning toward blue with a notable violet inflection. - PMS 2128 C shows moderate-to-high saturation, contributing to its clean and impactful appearance. - The undertone is predominantly bluish, with subtle violet nuances, which can become more prominent depending on lighting and adjacent colors. - The color’s vividness may be affected by finish; gloss or semi-gloss finishes will enhance chromatic intensity, while matte finishes may mute its impact.

Use PMS 2128 C in environments where visual differentiation and brand recognition are important, such as signage, branded displays, and prototype fabrication. Evaluate the color in the intended lighting and finish, as its perceived depth and chroma can shift under different conditions. When specifying for paint, be aware that saturated blue-violets may require multiple coats for consistent coverage, and surface prep should ensure smooth, uniform substrates to avoid uneven appearance. Relative to other blue-violets, PMS 2128 C stands out as cooler and slightly more chromatic, making it effective for designs needing crisp, contemporary energy.

Similar colors:
PMS 2728 C: Slightly lighter and more subdued, tending toward a clearer blue with less violet influence.

PMS 2090 C: Darker and more intense, with both deeper blue and violet notes, resulting in a stronger, moodier presence.

PMS 2145 C: Slightly warmer with an increased violet content, appearing less purely blue and more balanced toward purple.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2128 C

Will Pantone PMS 2128 C paint look exactly like the color in my Pantone book?

Pantone books serve as reference standards for PMS 2128 C, but actual paint results can differ due to sheen, substrate, and application method. The swatch in your Pantone book is usually printed ink on paper, which may look different from painted finishes on metal, plastic, or wood. To make sure PMS 2128 C meets your expectations on your specific material, always test a sample in the chosen finish and lighting conditions before full production or installation.

What should I consider when using PMS 2128 C paint on metal or powder-coated surfaces?

To achieve the best results with PMS 2128 C on metal or powder-coated substrates, ensure proper surface preparation. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and lightly scuffed or sanded to promote adhesion. If painting over an existing coating or powder coat, note that the underlying color and gloss level can affect the final appearance. Always apply a test sample of PMS 2128 C on your actual substrate and evaluate it in the intended lighting and finish before proceeding with the full project.

How should I specify PMS 2128 C for pop-ups or retail environments?

For retail installations and pop-up environments using PMS 2128 C, consider the durability and visual consistency needed for your brand experience. Evaluate paint samples in the exact lighting and on the same materials that will be used in your installation, since the appearance of PMS 2128 C can shift with changes in illumination and surface gloss. For high-traffic or public areas, choose paint formats and sheens aligned with your durability and cleanability needs, and always approve a mock-up before moving to full production.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2128 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 2128 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2128 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
