PMS 2109 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, commonly used in brand, marketing, and display fabrication contexts where reliable color reproduction is essential. This color brings a saturated, energetic, and assertive vibe with a distinctly modern tone. It is recognized for its medium-dark value and visibly cool magenta orientation, often chosen where memorable, vivid color expression is required.

PMS 2109 C appears moderately dark, with a low light reflectance value (LRV 16.12).

The color presents a cool, magenta appearance, informed by its hue angle in the violet-magenta range.

PMS 2109 C shows medium-high saturation, ensuring strong color presence and minimal fade under typical conditions.

It exhibits subtle blue undertones, which may intensify under neutral or cool lighting.

The color’s appearance is notably sensitive to finish: gloss or satin will amplify saturation and perceived vibrancy, while matte finishes will mute its chromatic strength.

PMS 2109 C works well in environments that require clear differentiation or where color is integral to identity-driven elements such as displays, branded fixtures, or experiential installations. Evaluate samples under controlled lighting and on the intended substrate to confirm final appearance, as this color can visually shift based on ambient light and finish. Be aware that highly saturated magentas like PMS 2109 C may require additional coats for uniform coverage; this should be accounted for during planning, especially when applied over darker substrates or when using low-hide base coats.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 2096 C: Slightly lighter and more vivid, offering increased brightness while maintaining a magenta orientation.
  • PMS 2107 C: Darker and with deeper violet-blue influence, producing a heavier, more subdued visual impact.
  • PMS 219 C: More chromatic and vibrant, with a slightly warmer tone compared to PMS 2109 C, resulting in a more energetic appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2109 C

Are there notable brand or application contexts for Pantone PMS 2109 C?

Pantone PMS 2109 C is selected for projects needing vivid, brand-consistent magenta such as experiential installations, branded displays, and marketing activations where color needs to stand out and be memorable. While there are no specific major brand associations noted for PMS 2109 C, it is commonly used by teams specifying custom magenta for identity-driven environments, prototypes, and event fixtures where consistent color communication is critical. Always refer to your organization''s brand standards to verify if PMS 2109 C is an approved color for your use case.

What steps help achieve a uniform appearance with Pantone PMS 2109 C when painting large areas?

For Pantone PMS 2109 C, which is a highly saturated magenta, uniformity over large surfaces requires careful planning. Use a consistent application method throughout, such as spraying or rolling with even pressure. Prepare surfaces thoroughly and prime with a uniform base color, ideally white or very light, to prevent underlying colors from affecting the result. Apply all coats in the same direction and allow full drying between coats. Since saturated magentas like PMS 2109 C may have lower hide, plan for extra coats to achieve even coverage, especially over dark substrates. Always evaluate a test area under target lighting before proceeding with full application.

What should I know about matching Pantone PMS 2109 C accurately across different materials?

Matching Pantone PMS 2109 C presents challenges because vivid, saturated hues can appear differently on various substrates and under different lighting. The finish (matte, satin, gloss) you select will also affect visual perception, with gloss amplifying and matte muting the intensity. MyPerfectColor formulates paints to visually match PMS 2109 C as a reference standard, but appearance shifts may occur due to substrate, texture, and ambient light. For brand-critical projects or when matching across multiple materials, order and review samples before full-scale use, and confirm under your intended lighting and finish.

What is the typical production lead time for Pantone PMS 2109 C paint orders?

Standard formats like spray paint or housepaint usually ship within a few business days, but large orders or custom formats may require additional time. Can I use the Pantone PMS 2109 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
