PMS 2004 C from the Pantone Matching System is a conspicuous yellow-green, widely recognized for its vivid, energetic appearance. This color has a light reflectance value (LRV) of 73.63, placing it in the lighter range and contributing to its visual prominence. It projects a vibe that is bold, modern, technical, and attention-grabbing, with a pronounced clean and fresh impression. PMS 2004 C is commonly chosen when high impact and unambiguous differentiation are operational requirements.

PMS 2004 C is a light color, as indicated by its high LRV (73.63). The color presents a predominantly warm, yellow-green tendency. This color shows high saturation, resulting in a vivid and intense appearance. PMS 2004 C carries a yellow undertone, contributing to its warmth and brightness. The color may demonstrate sensitivity to finish choices, with gloss or matte surfaces subtly affecting its perceived intensity and brightness.

PMS 2004 C works well for applications where maximum visibility and immediate attention are important, such as brand activations, temporary displays, or event materials. Select this color when clear differentiation and energetic presence are desired, but evaluate the effect of lighting as illumination can shift the perceived balance between yellow and green. Surfaces and finishes should be chosen with awareness that both gloss and matte can influence the apparent saturation and brightness. Compared to related yellow-greens, PMS 2004 C generally appears more saturated and slightly warmer, and will be perceived as lighter and more prominent in well-lit environments.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2004 C

Why does PMS 2004 C look different under various lighting and how can I ensure the best brand match?

The appearance of PMS 2004 C can shift noticeably depending on the lighting conditions and the environment where it is used. Different light sources such as daylight, fluorescent, or LED can each bring out more yellow or green, making PMS 2004 C look warmer or cooler. To ensure you achieve the intended brand result, always evaluate a sample of PMS 2004 C under the lighting conditions where it will be displayed. This is especially important for installations, displays, or events where color consistency is critical.

How can the finish or sheen influence the appearance of Pantone PMS 2004 C in my project?

The finish you select for PMS 2004 C has a significant effect on how the color is perceived. Gloss finishes can make PMS 2004 C look more intense and may slightly amplify the brightness and saturation, while matte finishes can soften the color's visual impact and make it appear less vivid. When brand consistency matters, consider how different finishes will interact with your lighting and surface material, and always request samples if you are unsure which finish will deliver the best match for your needs.

When is it recommended to sample Pantone PMS 2004 C before full production?

Sampling PMS 2004 C is highly recommended for large, highly visible projects, formal brand graphic approvals, or if the color must appear consistently across different substrates. It is especially important for saturated colors like PMS 2004 C because the interaction of lighting, material, and finish can create noticeable shifts. By sampling first, you gain confidence in the visual result and can make necessary adjustments before committing to production-scale orders.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2004 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
