PMS 7487 C is part of the Pantone PMS system, used extensively for the consistent specification of color in branding and visual identity applications. The color presents as light, cool, and muted with a fresh, technical, and controlled vibe. With a relatively high light reflectance value (LRV 60.3), it appears softer and less saturated than many other colors in the same hue family, providing a subdued, approachable look suitable for impactful yet non-dominant applications. The color sits in the bluish green region with a subtle pastel quality.

- PMS 7487 C registers as a notably light color (LRV 60.3). - The color leans cool, situated between blue and green with minimal yellow or red undertone. - PMS 7487 C exhibits moderate saturation, appearing more muted and pastel than vivid. - The undertone is clean with a distinct aqua character. - This color can show mild finish sensitivity; gloss finishes may enhance its clarity, while matte finishes may further soften its appearance.

PMS 7487 C works well in environments where a clean, fresh impression is desired without overwhelming visual intensity. It is often considered for secondary brand palettes, background areas, or applications that require gentle contrast with darker or more saturated accents. When used in paint, evaluate lighting conditions, as both daylight and warm artificial light can affect the apparent balance between blue and green. Lighter colors like this may require thorough surface preparation to achieve uniform coverage, and translucent finishes may increase the appearance of undertones or surface inconsistencies compared to solid, opaque applications.

PMS 339 C: Darker and more saturated, shifting towards a deeper, more vibrant green.

PMS 7472 C: Slightly bluer and more muted, with a cooler overall appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7487 C

How does surface texture affect the appearance of PMS 7487 C in signage or displays?

The texture of the substrate can noticeably change how PMS 7487 C appears. Smooth, glossy finishes reflect more light and can make this light bluish green look brighter and more vivid, while matte or rough surfaces may soften the color and create more shadowing, making PMS 7487 C seem lighter or less saturated. If achieving precise brand consistency is critical, it is helpful to sample PMS 7487 C on the actual material and finish you will use to confirm the color meets project requirements under typical lighting.

How much area does a can of PMS 7487 C spray paint cover, and how do I estimate the quantity for my project?

Coverage for PMS 7487 C spray paint averages about 20 square feet per 11 ounce can under optimal conditions. Actual coverage depends on the surface type, texture, base color, and required number of coats. Lighter and less opaque colors like PMS 7487 C may need more coats for even coverage, especially over dark or uneven surfaces. For quantity estimation, measure the total area to be coated, allow for extra to account for surface prep and multiple coats, and consider ordering a test can if exact results are critical for your display or prototype.

Why is PMS 7487 C often specified in sign, display, and exhibit fabrication?

PMS 7487 C is a standardized Pantone PMS color, which makes it a reliable reference for brand-aligned signage, displays, or exhibits. Fabricators use Pantone colors like PMS 7487 C to achieve visual consistency across elements, regardless of material or production process. Because lighting and substrate can affect the final look, sampling PMS 7487 C paint on the actual material is recommended to meet brand expectations and ensure consistency in finished components.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7487 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
