PMS 7477 C is part of the Pantone PMS color system, recognized for standardized color communication in branding, display fabrication, and industrial design. This color presents as deep, serious, and slightly cool, with a technical, muted vibe. It often conveys a restrained, stable, and contemporary appearance.

PMS 7477 C is very dark, with a low light reflectance value (LRV) of 6.65. The color has a cool tendency, appearing as a complex blend of blue and green. PMS 7477 C shows low to moderate saturation, resulting in a subdued and almost slate-like tone. The undertone is a muted blue-green, sometimes reading as slightly teal or grayish under different light. This color can be sensitive to finish choice: higher gloss can make it appear richer, while matte finishes emphasize its muted quality.

PMS 7477 C works well when a grounded, understated color is required for visual weight or background contrast. It is well-suited for branding applications or environments where a deep but not overtly vibrant color is desired. When using this color, preview under intended lighting, as the color may shift between blue-gray and blue-green tones. Dark colors like this can highlight surface imperfections, so thoughtful surface preparation and even application are important. Compared to similar dark blue-greens, PMS 7477 C is generally more muted and less overtly saturated.

Similar colors:
PMS 302 C – Slightly lighter and more purely blue, with less green influence.

PMS 7545 C – Lighter and warmer, with more gray content than PMS 7477 C.

PMS 316 C – Slightly greener and more saturated, with less muted appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7477 C

What does it mean to order PMS 7477 C matched paint from MyPerfectColor?

Ordering PMS 7477 C matched paint means you are purchasing paint formulated to visually match the PMS 7477 C color target as defined by the Pantone Matching System. Pantone PMS is an industry standard for color consistency but is not a paint recipe, finish specification, or manufacturing process. MyPerfectColor creates paint to visually align with this standard under typical viewing conditions. Always confirm if your application requires a specific finish or substrate since PMS 7477 C refers only to the color target, not the product formulation.

How do I order paint that matches Pantone PMS 7477 C on MyPerfectColor?

To order paint for Pantone PMS 7477 C, first select the desired paint format such as spray paint, paint pen, or housepaint. Choose the finish or sheen that best matches your intended application (for example, matte, satin, or gloss) since this can affect the color's appearance. Enter the quantity required and add any additional notes or options as needed. Review all choices carefully before checking out to ensure you will receive the correct format and amount for your project goals.

How do lighting and viewing conditions affect the appearance of PMS 7477 C paint?

The appearance of PMS 7477 C paint can shift depending on the type and intensity of lighting where it is viewed. This color may look more blue, green, or grayish in different environments or under daylight, fluorescent, or LED lights. It is important to evaluate PMS 7477 C under the final installed lighting conditions to confirm it meets your needs for visual consistency and brand accuracy.

What coverage can I expect from a spray can of PMS 7477 C paint, and how should I estimate quantity?

One spray can of PMS 7477 C typically covers around 20 to 25 square feet with one coat, depending on surface texture, paint application technique, and environmental conditions. For deep or muted colors like PMS 7477 C, multiple coats may be needed for full uniformity, especially on lighter substrates. Estimate your total square footage and order extra to allow for sample testing and adequate coverage of all surfaces.

All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 7477 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 7477 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
