Pantone™ PMS 7403 C

PMS 7403 C is a Pantone standard, but its appearance can shift across materials due to differences in absorption, surface texture, and reflectivity. For example, the light yellow of PMS 7403 C may appear slightly brighter on smooth, glossy metal and a bit softer or muted on textured fabric or uncoated materials. Changes in sheen or gloss level can also impact the final look. Always test PMS 7403 C on the actual material and finish used in your finished project to ensure brand consistency and acceptance.

When applying PMS 7403 C to metal or previously powder-coated parts, proper surface preparation directly impacts color performance and brand alignment. Clean all surfaces thoroughly, and scuff or abrade smooth powder coatings to help the new finish adhere. The underlying gloss, existing coatings, and substrate color can all affect the perceived yellow tone and coverage. It is recommended to create a sample of PMS 7403 C on the actual parts or panels for approval before full production. This helps ensure any appearance differences from gloss or texture are identified early.

PMS 7403 C can be matched in a range of paint types. For indoor brand or display work, interior-grade paints often provide the needed durability and finish. For outdoor or exposed applications, use exterior-grade products or specialty coatings for long-term protection from weather and UV. Ensure the same gloss and finish across all substrates to maintain visual alignment. If the project includes both indoor and outdoor elements, review the performance needs and test PMS 7403 C on each substrate to confirm both appearance and performance meet your requirements.

The safety profile for paints matched to PMS 7403 C depends on the specific product type ordered. Check the label and review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for information on ventilation, personal protective equipment, and safe handling. Follow all recommended precautions, including use of respirators, gloves, and protective eyewear as directed. Perform all application steps in well-ventilated areas and store products according to the manufacturer's guidance.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
