Proper surface preparation is important to achieve accurate results with PMS 1205 C, especially because this is a light yellow with moderate coverage. Begin by cleaning the surface to remove any dust, grease, or contaminants. Lightly scuff glossy or smooth areas to improve adhesion, and make sure the surface is dry. To maintain the intended color value, use a uniform, neutral base coat, especially if covering dark or stained substrates, because PMS 1205 C may require additional coats for full opacity. Testing a small area is recommended to confirm compatibility and appearance before full application.

PMS 1205 C is a standardized color from the Pantone Matching System, so it is commonly specified in project briefs for signage, display, and exhibit fabrication when brand consistency is critical. This code serves as an exact color communication standard between marketing, design, and fabrication teams. Using PMS 1205 C allows vendors to target a known reference across different materials. However, for large or critical installations, sampling the color on actual substrates is recommended to ensure the final appearance meets expectations under the intended lighting and viewing conditions.

PMS 1205 C is a brand-standard reference not intended for touch-up or repair applications where an exact substrate match is required. Pantone matching is designed for consistent reproduction on new displays, signage, prototypes, or other branding elements. For touch-up-grade results, especially if you need to blend with existing finishes, it is best to send a physical part or sample for custom color matching. This approach accounts for aging, substrate, gloss, and other real-world differences that a Pantone code alone does not capture.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
