Pantone™ PMS 8402 C

Existing coatings, especially glossy or dark finishes, can affect how the PMS 8402 C color appears and how well the metallic effect develops. Always test a sample on your actual substrate, as the color and reflectivity of the base layer and the finish chosen will impact the final appearance. Proper prep and sample evaluation are key to a brand-consistent outcome.

PMS 8402 C may appear different when applied to various materials due to changes in absorption, surface texture, and light reflectivity. Metallic shades are especially sensitive to these factors. For example, the metallic effect of PMS 8402 C will be more pronounced on smooth, rigid substrates and more muted or diffuse on textured or absorbent materials. For accurate brand representation, always evaluate a painted sample of PMS 8402 C on the actual substrate before finalizing your project.

Coverage from one spray can of PMS 8402 C depends on the surface texture, material, and number of coats required for full hide. As a general guideline, one standard aerosol can covers about 20 to 25 square feet with light, even coats. If your project requires uniform metallic effect or multiple coats for proper hiding, plan on using additional cans. Always test your process to confirm coverage before ordering for a large brand or display project.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
