PMS 8300 C from the Pantone PMS system is a metallic color that projects a striking, saturated vibe with clear cool undertones. It is frequently chosen for its impactful presence, vivid saturation, and distinctive metallic sheen. Its appearance aligns with design intent where a modern, technical, and eye-catching effect is needed.

PMS 8300 C displays a medium-dark visual weight; it is neither very light nor extremely deep, with an LRV of 28.12. The color has a cool overall tendency, showing blue-green tones. The saturation level is high, leading to a vivid and noticeable appearance. PMS 8300 C has fresh teal undertones, leaning slightly toward blue due to its hue angle. The metallic quality means the color’s appearance will vary based on finish and lighting, potentially affecting depth and vibrancy. The finish sensitivity is high; gloss and reflectance play a significant role in final appearance.

PMS 8300 C works well for branded environments, displays, packaging prototypes, and activation elements where metallic effect and color specificity are needed. It is important to evaluate paint samples under intended lighting and with chosen finishes, since reflectance and surface preparation will directly affect the appearance and perceived depth of the color. Compared to other metallic teals, PMS 8300 C maintains impactful chroma while balancing vibrancy and visual weight—watch for potential color shift on curved or textured surfaces or when viewed under different lighting sources.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 8300 C

How does surface texture affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 8300 C?

PMS 8300 C is a metallic teal with high sensitivity to both texture and finish. If applied to a rough or textured surface, reflectivity and shadowing can make the color look darker, less uniform, or even flatter in some areas. On a smooth, glossy surface, the metallic sheen will be more evident, and the color may appear brighter or more vivid. Always evaluate PMS 8300 C samples on your intended substrate and finish to confirm the color effect meets your brand needs.

What are the steps to order paint matched to PMS 8300 C on MyPerfectColor?

To order PMS 8300 C matched paint, start by selecting the product format you need, such as spray paint, paint pen, or house paint. Next, choose the required sheen or finish, and then specify the quantity. Make sure the options reflect your intended brand experience and application requirements. If your project demands a specific substrate or has detailed approval processes, consider ordering a sample first to confirm the result before full production.

What should I know about matching PMS 8300 C accurately across materials?

PMS 8300 C is a bold, metallic teal designed for strong visual impact, but highly saturated and metallic Pantone colors can be challenging to match exactly, especially across different substrates or finishes. Variations in lighting, surface prep, and sheen may all influence the perceived color. MyPerfectColor uses specialized processes to achieve the closest practical match, but it is best practice to review painted samples under actual lighting and substrate conditions before moving to production for brand applications.

Are there special considerations when using PMS 8300 C on plastic or low-energy surfaces?

When using PMS 8300 C on plastics or other low-energy surfaces, proper adhesion requires careful surface preparation. Many plastics need a specialized primer or adhesion promoter to ensure the color bonds correctly and does not peel. Always test PMS 8300 C paint on your actual material before committing to a full project to confirm both appearance and durability under your brand requirements.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 8300 C?

Can I use the Pantone PMS 8300 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 8300 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 8300 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
