PMS 8202 C (Pantone PMS collection) is a metallic color with a cool, bluish-purple bias and a bold, luminous appearance. This color is perceived as dynamic, modern, and technical, with an energetic and vibrant attitude. It is often selected for scenarios needing high visual impact and dimensionality, especially where metallic effects are required for branding or display fabrication.
PMS 8202 C appears distinctly dark, with an LRV of 18.42 indicating low reflectance. The color shows a pronounced cool tendency due to its blue-purple hue. This color is highly saturated, producing a vivid and attention-grabbing effect. PMS 8202 C presents subtle blue undertones, with a slightly electric feel added by the metallic finish. The metallic nature of the color makes it more sensitive to finish; gloss and sheen levels will notably affect appearance, and metallic particles can emphasize surface irregularities.
PMS 8202 C is often specified where bold, cool, metallic effects support technology-forward or creative brand identities. This color is used for corporate signage, display elements, and experiential marketing where a reflective, chromatic look is desired.
PMS 8202 C works well in applications that benefit from deep, saturated, metallic finishes—such as display panels, retail fixtures, or branded pop-up environments. Because metallics are highly sensitive to application technique, surface preparation must be meticulous to achieve an even appearance. Lighting conditions, especially those that can highlight metallic particles or gloss variation, will substantially affect the perceived color and depth, so on-site sampling under final illumination is essential. Compared to non-metallic blues or purples, this color will appear more vibrant under direct light and can shift in appearance with changing angles or viewing conditions.
This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Durability of PMS 8202 C spray paint depends on several factors, including how well the substrate is prepared, the use of compatible primers, the addition of any clear protective topcoats, and the environment where the painted item will be used. For brand-facing displays or exhibit components, proper cleaning and surface prep are critical for adhesion, especially with metallic colors like PMS 8202 C. In high-traffic or outdoor environments, consider choosing a paint system or finish designed for the level of exposure expected. Using a clear topcoat can help protect the metallic finish and maintain appearance over time. Always test a sample in your actual environment and lighting before full application to ensure results meet expectations.
Whether you need a primer when using PMS 8202 C depends on the type of material you are painting and the desired durability. For most plastics, metals, and unfinished surfaces, a primer is strongly recommended to improve adhesion and achieve a smooth, uniform appearance, especially for metallic colors like PMS 8202 C. On previously painted or sealed surfaces, spot testing is recommended to confirm compatibility. Be sure to select a primer designed for your specific substrate and exposure conditions. Proper priming helps ensure you achieve the intended color consistency and finish quality.
PMS 8202 C is defined by the Pantone Matching System, which serves as a visual color standard for brand applications. By specifying PMS 8202 C for signage, displays, or branded installations, you ensure consistent, recognizable color across different materials and environments. Matching this color enables teams to deliver on established brand expectations and create unified visual experiences. For best results, evaluate PMS 8202 C using a physical Pantone guide and an actual paint sample under the lighting and finish conditions expected at your installation site.
PMS 8202 C paint is intended for brand color reproduction rather than touch-up of existing items. For touch-up grade results, especially where the original substrate, exposure, and finish details are unknown or have changed over time, it is best to send a physical part for custom color matching. This approach ensures closer alignment with the existing color and surface characteristics, which is important since PMS color standards are targets, not formulas tied to previous applications. Rely on Pantone PMS 8202 C when visual impact and brand color consistency matter for new displays or components.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 8202 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
