PMS 722 C, part of the Pantone Matching System, is characterized by a grounded, approachable, earthy, and warm vibe, making it functionally effective in branding and industrial design settings where warm sophistication is preferred. The color sits at a moderate lightness level and exudes a subtle, saturated warmth without shifting into vivid or primary territory.

PMS 722 C appears as a mid-light to medium color, with an LRV of 35.32. The color leans distinctly warm, tending toward orange-brown on most substrates. PMS 722 C has a noticeable but not overpowering saturation, providing body without appearing overly pure or bold. Undertones are primarily orange with brownish elements, resulting in an earthy, natural impression. This color can deepen in appearance with higher-gloss finishes; matte finishes may accentuate its muted, organic character.

PMS 722 C is often used in display and exhibit fabrication for dimensional lettering, panels, and environmental branding treatments where a specific warmth is referenced. The color may be specified by organizations aiming to convey accessibility and grounded professionalism, particularly in retail or hospitality rollout kits.

PMS 722 C works well in environments where a warm, approachable, yet branded look is needed. It holds its warmth under different lighting but may appear darker or more muted in low-light or with matte finishes. More saturated than many light browns, it provides distinguishable color without being overpowering. Surfaces must be prepped to a consistent base to avoid color inconsistency, as warm hues are sensitive to underlying tones. Color can shift subtly between application methods; always review a sample in-site prior to committing.

PMS 723 C – Slightly darker and deeper, imparting a more intense and mature orange-brown.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 722 C

How can I ensure consistent color results when reordering Pantone PMS 722 C paint for brand displays?

For the most consistent Pantone PMS 722 C color results when reordering, always use the same paint type, sheen, and application method as your previous order. Small changes in gloss or product chemistry can shift the appearance of PMS 722 C, especially since warm, saturated colors are sensitive to surface and lighting conditions. It is also essential to reference the same Pantone PMS 722 C standard or previously-approved sample when evaluating new batches. If you need visual approval or a target chip, use that same standard for all future orders and check your finished color in the intended lighting. Document your initial choices so they can be matched each time you reorder.

What should I consider when painting plastic or low-energy surfaces with Pantone PMS 722 C paint?

When applying Pantone PMS 722 C to plastics or low-energy surfaces, recognize that different plastics vary widely in how paint adheres. Many plastics require a specific primer or adhesion promoter to achieve durable results. Before full production or installation, test PMS 722 C paint on your actual plastic substrate. This ensures both adhesion and color appearance meet expectations, as the underlying surface and any primer can subtly influence warm hues like PMS 722 C. Always let test panels fully cure and check the finish for film integrity and color consistency before proceeding with a larger project.

What are key considerations for using PMS 722 C paint in pop-up or retail environments?

For successful use of PMS 722 C in pop-up or retail environments, focus on durability, accurate color under lighting, and planning for installation conditions. PMS 722 C's warm orange-brown can appear different depending on lighting and surface gloss, so always evaluate a physical sample in the actual space before full-scale use. Choose a paint formula and sheen suitable for the expected surface wear and cleaning needs. For high-traffic or brand-facing uses, confirm that the installed finish maintains the intended appearance and apply any additional protective coatings if needed. Sampling and pre-approval are strongly recommended for projects where visual fidelity is critical.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 722 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
