Pantone PMS 677 C is a very light, muted purple with subtle cool and gray undertones. It exudes a soft, understated, cool, and professional character, making it suitable for settings or brand visuals seeking a gentle, approachable appearance without vividness.

PMS 677 C displays a high lightness level, with an LRV of 67.99. This color reads as cool, positioned in the lavender spectrum with an undertone balance that avoids overt warmth. Its low to moderate saturation gives a muted, restrained effect rather than vibrancy. The lavender tone has a soft, grayish cast. The finish can subtly influence how muted or fresh the color appears; higher gloss may enhance clarity, while matte will mute the tone further.

PMS 677 C is most effective where a calm, inviting lavender is needed without overwhelming with intensity. In branded environments, exhibits, or displays, neutral or cool lighting preserves the intended character; warm lighting may introduce grayness or dullness. On large surfaces, consider finish and substrate—matte finishes mute, while gloss clarifies. Compared to other PMS purples, PMS 677 C is lighter and less saturated, reducing visual weight and vibrancy.

Similar colors:

PMS 2645 C – Slightly darker and more saturated, offering a more pronounced lavender hue.

PMS 7444 C – Cooler and more neutral, shifting further toward a bluish-lavender appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 677 C

Will changing the finish or gloss level affect how PMS 677 C appears in my brand display?

Yes, the finish can significantly change the perception of PMS 677 C. A glossier finish will make PMS 677 C appear brighter and may enhance the clarity of the lavender tone, while a matte finish will mute the color, making it appear softer and possibly slightly grayer. Comparing a matte to a gloss sample side by side can make it seem like a different color, even though both are matched to the same Pantone target. Always specify and sample the intended sheen for brand-accurate results.

What should I know before applying PMS 677 C paint to plastics or other low energy surfaces?

When using paint matched to PMS 677 C on plastics or low surface energy materials, adhesion can vary widely depending on the substrate type. Some plastics require a specialty primer or surface preparation to ensure good adhesion and durability. It is important to test PMS 677 C on a sample of your exact plastic before moving into production. This helps confirm both appearance and performance with the chosen primer and paint system.

Why might PMS 677 C look different on metals, plastics, and wood even when the same paint is used?

PMS 677 C may appear different across materials due to substrate effects. Surface texture, absorption, and reflectivity all impact color appearance. For example, the same PMS 677 C paint can look slightly lighter or darker, more muted, or glossier depending on whether it is applied to metal, plastic, or wood. For brand-sensitive projects, always evaluate PMS 677 C on the actual material used in your final display to ensure consistency.

Where can I get the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for PMS 677 C paint products?

The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for PMS 677 C is based on the paint or product type, not the Pantone color code itself. To find the correct SDS, consult the SDS library for the specific paint format you are ordering (such as spray paint, epoxy, or house paint). The SDS will provide safety, handling, and regulatory information for that product base with PMS 677 C as the color target.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 677 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 677 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 677 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
