PMS 660 C from the Pantone PMS System is a saturated, strong blue with a distinctly cool, clean character. This color is frequently described as bright, vibrant, and assertive, fitting practical requirements for consistent corporate branding, marketing displays, and industrial design projects that demand precise visual impact.

PMS 660 C appears as a dark mid-range blue with an LRV of 14.54, offering notable depth but remaining visually pronounced. The color has a distinctly cool temperature, aligning with blue-violet hues. PMS 660 C demonstrates strong saturation and intensity, resulting in a bold and unmistakable presence. The visible undertone tends toward blue-violet, which can vary slightly depending on finish and ambient lighting.

PMS 660 C performs well where a saturated, unmistakably cool blue is desired for clear brand differentiation or high-visibility installations. Attention should be given to uniform surface preparation and the choice of finish, as sheen and lighting can accentuate or temper the color’s vibrancy and undertone. Coverage may require additional coats on low-hiding substrates due to the intensity and saturation typical of this category. When evaluating for brand-critical or specification-driven environments, compare both physical Pantone standards and painted samples under intended lighting conditions.

Similar colors:
PMS 293 C offers a darker, more navy appearance with similar intensity but reduced brightness.

PMS 285 C is lighter and has a cooler, more cerulean influence than PMS 660 C.

PMS 661 C appears deeper and more muted, reading as a cooler and less vibrant variant of blue.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 660 C

How will Pantone PMS 660 C paint compare to the appearance of my Pantone color book?

Paint made to match Pantone PMS 660 C is matched to the target in the official Pantone book, but expect some differences. Pantone books are printed reference standards, and the color can appear different when applied as paint due to sheen, substrate, and lighting. To confirm results for brand or display use, view painted samples of PMS 660 C on your actual materials, under the lighting where they will be seen. This is especially important for approvals and brand consistency.

What should I know about hiding and undercoat strategy when using PMS 660 C paint?

PMS 660 C is a saturated and bold blue that typically requires thoughtful hide strategy for full coverage. Due to the intensity of this color, plan for a suitable undercoat, especially over light or uneven substrates, and anticipate the need for multiple coats to achieve uniform appearance. Testing your chosen product and process on your substrate will help ensure the best results for visual consistency in branding or display settings.

How do finish and sheen affect the look of Pantone PMS 660 C in my application?

The finish you choose for PMS 660 C, such as gloss, satin, or matte, will affect its visual impact. Gloss finishes can make the color appear brighter and more saturated. Matte finishes may soften the vibrancy and make the color look deeper. Consider how lighting and surface reflections impact appearance, and sample PMS 660 C in your intended finish before committing to production, especially for brand and marketing purposes.

Where can I find the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for paint made in PMS 660 C?

The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for PMS 660 C paint is determined by the paint product or chemistry, not the color code. Select your desired paint type and look for the SDS in the product's SDS library. The SDS provides information about safety, handling, and compliance for the specific formula you select, regardless of the color mixed.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 660 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 660 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 660 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 660 C. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. Do I need a primer for Pantone PMS 660 C?
The need for primer for Pantone PMS 660 C depends on the type of paint, the substrate being painted and where it will be located. See our Primer Selection Table to see what primer you might need and learn more about when you might need a primer. Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 660 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 660 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
