PMS 647 C is part of the Pantone PMS color system, a standardized reference for brand specification and cross-material consistency. This color delivers a professional, composed, and technical vibe with understated sophistication. It is recognized for its cool temperature, moderate chroma, and dark value, making it suitable for applications requiring gravitas and reliability without appearing harsh or overly saturated.

PMS 647 C appears dark in most lighting environments, with a low LRV of 8.5. The color is cool, exhibiting subtle violet-blue tendencies. PMS 647 C shows moderate saturation, which provides strong visual presence without being overwhelmingly vivid. The undertone is notably blue, with a slight muted quality that prevents it from reading as primary or neon. PMS 647 C may display modest finish sensitivity; glossier finishes can intensify perceived chroma, while matte finishes enhance the muted effect.

PMS 647 C is most effective when used for environments or displays requiring a defined, corporate, or institutional appearance. It is often chosen for its ability to remain visually stable across diverse lighting conditions, but as with all dark, saturated hues, precise material preparation is important for achieving uniform coverage and minimizing visible defects. This color can appear flatter or deeper depending on the finish and ambient lighting, so mock-ups are recommended for critical applications. Compared to similar dark blues, PMS 647 C reads as more controlled and less intense, helping maintain formality without veering into black or purple.

Similar colors:
PMS 654 C is slightly darker and exhibits a more neutral character.

PMS 7462 C is lighter and reads with a stronger blue intensity.

PMS 2955 C appears deeper and cooler, intensifying the corporate feel.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 647 C

How can I achieve consistent results when reordering Pantone PMS 647 C paint for multiple projects?

To maintain color consistency with Pantone PMS 647 C across multiple orders, always use the same paint product type and sheen. Refer to the same Pantone PMS 647 C standard for approvals or mock-ups, and document your selection process. Switching between paint types, finishes, or reference materials can lead to noticeable differences, especially under varied lighting or with dark, saturated colors like PMS 647 C. Consistency in your workflow will help align all painted elements to a unified brand appearance.

What should I know about coverage and undercoating when using PMS 647 C paint?

Pantone PMS 647 C is a dark, saturated blue that may require multiple coats for optimal coverage, especially over light or uneven surfaces. To improve uniformity and visual consistency, consider using a suitable undercoat or primer in a mid-toned grey or deep blue shade. Proper surface preparation and at least two finish coats are recommended for strong, even color with minimal visible defects. Planning for extra coverage steps helps ensure the intended brand look is achieved.

Is PMS 647 C paint suitable for both interior and exterior brand applications?

PMS 647 C paint is available in product options for both interior and exterior use. When selecting a paint type, consider the installation environment and exposure to elements. For exterior signage or displays using PMS 647 C, choose an exterior-grade formulation for durability and color stability. For indoor marketing environments or displays, an interior-grade product is appropriate. Confirm the intended use during ordering to ensure long-term visual appearance matches requirements.

Are there notable real-world brand or institutional uses of Pantone PMS 647 C?

Pantone PMS 647 C is often selected by organizations aiming for a professional, stable appearance in branding and display contexts. While specific brand associations are not listed here, this deep, cool blue is commonly used for signage, event displays, and environments where visual control and reliable perception are important. Its reputation for visual consistency makes it a popular choice in marketing, corporate, and institutional settings.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 647 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 647 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 647 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 647 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 647 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
