PMS 582 C, from the Pantone Matching System collection, is a moderately dark, yellow-leaning green with muted chroma and a low-brightness, matte effect. It is recognized for its subdued, utilitarian, and technical appearance, resulting in an industrial, retro, and organic vibe. This color serves practical roles in identity and design systems where standing out is important but overt saturation is not desired.

PMS 582 C appears moderately dark, with an LRV of 22.93.

The color presents a distinctly cool-leaning yellow-green hue.

It displays moderate to high saturation, but not at maximum chroma.

Undertones are earthy and slightly olive, resulting in a muted visual impression.

The appearance of PMS 582 C may shift toward a greener or grayer tone depending on lighting and finish selection.

The color is more sensitive to matte and low-sheen finishes, which can further subdue its vibrancy.

PMS 582 C works well for projects demanding a distinctive yet unobtrusive yellow-green, including brand-driven installations, retail displays, and exhibit elements where a technical or organic feel is desired. This color can be affected by lighting conditions, often shifting toward an olive or khaki tone in warm lighting and appearing cooler in cool or daylight-balanced conditions. For most accurate results, always evaluate PMS 582 C using a physical Pantone reference alongside a painted sample in the intended lighting and finish. Compared to other yellow-greens, PMS 582 C is less vivid, offering a practical alternative where flashes of bright color are not suitable, and where a grounded, non-reflective look is prioritized.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 583 C: Similar in hue but noticeably lighter and more saturated, reads as a brighter yellow-green.
  • PMS 577 C: Lighter and less saturated, with a softer and more muted, pastel effect.
  • PMS 385 C: Darker and more olive-toned, producing a deeper, more subdued look.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 582 C

What are the most important factors to consider when evaluating a sample of Pantone PMS 582 C for approval?

When reviewing a sample of Pantone PMS 582 C, use consistent lighting that matches the lighting of the final environment. Always compare painted samples to an official Pantone reference and ensure the substrate matches your production material. Allow coatings to fully dry and cure before final judgment, as color and sheen can shift during drying. Evaluate both color and finish side by side for best accuracy. This helps confirm that PMS 582 C matches expectations under actual conditions and reduces the risk of color disputes later in your workflow.

How does selecting the wrong sheen affect the appearance of PMS 582 C in brand-facing applications?

The sheen you choose for PMS 582 C will affect both its color perception and visual impact. Lower sheens such as matte can make the color appear more subdued and can shift the appearance toward greyer or duller tones, while higher sheens may increase perceived brightness and make yellows or greens seem more saturated. The same color formula may look noticeably different in gloss versus matte. Select sheen based on the intended substrate, viewing distance, and the role of PMS 582 C within your brand experience. Confirm with a sample in the correct finish wherever possible before full production.

What should I know about the challenges of matching Pantone PMS 582 C across different materials?

Matching Pantone PMS 582 C exactly across different materials can be challenging due to differences in substrate, texture, and finish. Color appearance may shift based on the underlying surface and lighting. While MyPerfectColor specializes in matching Pantone colors accurately for brand and marketing needs, always expect slight variation between materials. Using official Pantone references and reviewing painted samples on your actual substrate in intended lighting is the best way to confirm that PMS 582 C meets your standard before production.

When is a primer required before applying Pantone PMS 582 C on my display or fixture project?

Whether a primer is needed for PMS 582 C depends on your substrate, paint type, and desired durability. Slick, porous, or uneven surfaces usually require priming to ensure proper adhesion and even color appearance. In some cases, a primer can also improve hide, especially for highly saturated or low-luster colors. Review the paint product requirements and the substrate for your project. If unsure, consult MyPerfectColor for guidance or refer to the technical data for your selected paint format.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 582 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 582 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Can I use the Pantone PMS 582 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
