PMS 5615 C (Pantone PMS collection) is a subdued green with a cool, organic quality and a relatively dark lightness. Its overall vibe is muted, grounded, professional, and natural-leaning, with a distinctly reserved appearance. The color supports design applications where a subtle but identifiable green is needed without strong visual saturation.

PMS 5615 C presents as a dark color, with a low reflectance value (LRV 14.54). The color has a cool undertone, typical of greens with a hue angle near the blue-green range. Saturation is low to moderate, producing a muted and soft appearance rather than vibrancy. The undertone includes subtle gray notes, making the color appear more subdued in most settings. The appearance of this color can shift noticeably with different finishes; glossier sheens may accentuate its depth, while matte finishes may further mute its effect.

PMS 5615 C is best used where a contained, natural green is needed without disrupting more neutral palettes or drawing too much visual attention. It tends to recede in most lighting environments, making it suitable for secondary brand elements, display panels, or environmental graphics that require calm, steady color presence. Pay attention to lighting and finish selection, as low light can further deepen its tone and high-gloss finishes may amplify the color’s slight chromatic edge. In side-by-side use with greens that are more chromatic or lighter, this color will appear notably more muted and understated.

Similar colors:
PMS 560 C: Darker and slightly more chromatic, resulting in a deeper, more saturated green.

PMS 561 C: Slightly lighter and with less gray, producing a cleaner, more open green.

PMS 5625 C: Lighter and warmer, containing a more noticeable yellow undertone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 5615 C

What are the best practices for evaluating samples of PMS 5615 C during color approval?

When assessing PMS 5615 C for approval, always compare samples under consistent lighting conditions, such as daylight or controlled light sources, to avoid unwanted color shifts. Use the same substrate and finish across samples so that differences in gloss or material do not affect perception. Make sure all coatings are fully dry and cured before judging color, since PMS 5615 C can look darker or more muted when wet. Following these steps helps ensure accurate, brand-consistent results for PMS 5615 C.

How should I choose between interior and exterior paint formats for PMS 5615 C?

Choose an interior paint format for PMS 5615 C when your project is fully sheltered from outdoor conditions. Select an exterior grade formula when PMS 5615 C will be exposed to weather, sunlight, or high humidity, as these products offer increased durability. This approach helps maintain color appearance over time for branding, signage, and display uses.

What does it mean to order paint matched to PMS 5615 C?

Ordering paint for PMS 5615 C means you are requesting a color that visually matches the standardized Pantone PMS 5615 C reference, not a specific coating formula or manufacturing method. This ensures your final color aligns with Pantone guidelines for branding and display, but slight variation can occur in appearance depending on material and finish. PMS 5615 C is a target for consistent reproduction and is not a guarantee of appearance on every substrate or under all lighting conditions.

When is it appropriate to order a standard PMS 5615 C paint match for my project?

Ordering a standard PMS 5615 C paint match is the right choice for most brand-facing signage, marketing displays, prototype models, and exhibit elements where visual accuracy to the Pantone standard is needed. This approach works well when visual alignment is the main goal, especially for short-term and temporary brand elements. For very large, permanent, or multi-material installations, consider site-specific evaluations to confirm appearance under actual conditions.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 5615 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
