PMS 5527 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) color, part of the widely used Pantone PMS collection. The color is best described as a pale, grayish sage blue-green. Its vibe is calm, subdued, professional, modern, and refined. With a Light Reflectance Value (LRV) of 64.07, PMS 5527 C occupies the lighter, less saturated end of the blue-green spectrum. It is frequently specified for branding, signage, and environments when a quiet yet distinct modern presence is needed.

PMS 5527 C has a relatively high lightness, contributing to its airy, open appearance (LRV: 64.07). The color presents a distinctly cool visual temperature. PMS 5527 C shows low chroma, making it muted and subtle rather than vibrant. The undertone is a balanced mix of blue and green, further softened by visible gray. The color can show increased grayness or subtle blue-green shifts depending on finish and lighting. PMS 5527 C is sensitive to surrounding colors and may appear noticeably different on glossy versus matte finishes.

PMS 5527 C performs effectively in brand environments, architectural details, and industrial displays where a desaturated, quiet blue-green is needed. For color-critical outcomes, always evaluate the color in the final lighting and finish. The subtlety of PMS 5527 C means it can pick up both green and blue aspects depending on nearby materials or light sources; sampling in situ is recommended. Compared to similar colors, PMS 5527 C is less saturated and more neutral, minimizing risks of visual dominance or oversaturation in large fields.

Similar colors:
PMS 5445 C – Slightly lighter and bluer, giving a cooler and more pastel effect.

PMS 5493 C – Somewhat darker and more chromatic, providing a stronger blue-green presence.

PMS 5517 C – Slightly warmer and more muted, with a subtle green undertone and softer appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 5527 C

What safety and VOC considerations should I be aware of when using Pantone PMS 5527 C paint products?

Safety and VOC (volatile organic compound) requirements for Pantone PMS 5527 C will depend on the specific product format you select, such as spray paint, paint pens, or industrial finishes. Always review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for your exact product and follow all recommended ventilation, handling, and protective measures. For installations in brand-sensitive or public settings, confirm that the product's VOC content meets your project's expectations. If you are unsure, consult with your safety representative or the product supplier before use.

How does PMS 5527 C perform for hide and coverage, and should I plan for an undercoat?

PMS 5527 C is a light, muted blue-green. While it is not among the most saturated Pantone colors, achieving a uniform, brand-accurate result may require more than one coat, especially over darker or high-contrast surfaces. Using a white or light gray undercoat can help improve uniformity and reduce the number of finish coats needed. Planning your process and sampling on your actual substrate is recommended for best results.

Why is PMS 5527 C often specified for sign, display, or exhibit fabrication, and what is important for matching?

PMS 5527 C is commonly specified in branding and display projects because it provides a standardized, recognizable color target for brand environments, signage, or fabricated elements. When reproducing PMS 5527 C, consistency across materials and sampling on the actual substrate under installed lighting is crucial to confirm the appearance matches your expectations. This helps minimize visual variation and supports brand standards.

What are best practices for maintaining uniform appearance of PMS 5527 C over large areas?

To achieve a uniform and consistent look with PMS 5527 C on large surfaces, use the same application technique and tools throughout, mix all paint needed at once if possible, and apply in planned, even passes. Overlapping or inconsistent application can lead to visible patchiness or sheen changes. Sampling on your chosen material before final application can help confirm both coverage needs and color uniformity.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 5527 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 5527 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 5527 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 5527 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 5527 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
