Pantone® PMS 5477 C. Paint And Spray Paint. MyPerfectColor is the official licensee of Pantone and authorized to reproduce the Pantone Matching System colors in spray paint and other paints.

PMS 5477 C, from the Pantone PMS system, is a subdued, cool-toned blue-green with a technical, reserved, and utilitarian vibe. This color reads as dark and muted, offering a low-chroma alternative to brighter teals or cyans. The Pantone PMS collection is widely used for brand identity, signage, and physical prototypes, requiring colors with predictably consistent visual character.

- PMS 5477 C appears distinctly dark, with low light reflectance (LRV approximately 9).

- The color reads as cool due to its blue-green undertone and blue-biased hue angle.

- PMS 5477 C has notably low chroma, resulting in a muted, less saturated presence.

- The undertone presents as a muted blue-green, with grayish notes that can shift cooler or more neutral depending on lighting.

- This color is relatively insensitive to finish; gloss levels can influence apparent depth but do not dramatically alter undertones or hue.

PMS 5477 C works well in settings where a cool, understated, and technical appearance is needed, such as for institutional branding or corporate environments. It maintains its character across different materials but can appear even darker in low-light conditions or matte finishes. When positioned with other colors, PMS 5477 C functions as a neutralizing backdrop; compared to brighter analogous colors, it avoids assertiveness and draws less attention to itself. Always evaluate this color with reference samples under the lighting and finish conditions of the intended environment to confirm undertone stability and darkness before use.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 5487 C – Shares a similar muted green-blue character but appears slightly darker and cooler.
  • PMS 5497 C – Is lighter and slightly more chromatic, presenting a brighter greenish-blue.
  • PMS 446 C – Offers a more neutral, almost charcoal tone for a less chromatic and more gray result.
  • PMS 5565 C – Is noticeably lighter and warmer, showing more visible green and less gray.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 5477 C

What should I expect in terms of durability when using PMS 5477 C spray paint for branding or displays?

The durability of spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 5477 C depends on the surface preparation, choice of topcoat, and the environment where it will be used. For best results, ensure the substrate is clean and primed according to the product recommendations. In high-traffic or outdoor settings, adding a suitable protective clear coat can improve resistance to abrasion or weather. Consider whether you need interior or exterior paint chemistry for your project. Selecting the right paint type for your exposure needs is essential for maintaining the intended color and finish of PMS 5477 C.

How should I apply spray paint in PMS 5477 C for smooth and consistent coverage?

For the best finish and color consistency with PMS 5477 C spray paint, apply several light coats rather than trying to achieve full coverage in one pass. Allow adequate drying or flash time between coats so each layer can set before the next is applied. This approach helps prevent runs and ensures a uniform appearance, which is especially important with blue-green and other muted brand colors. Always follow the instructions for your chosen paint type and consider a test application on a sample piece first.

What is the typical lead time for custom spray paint or paint orders in PMS 5477 C?

Paint and spray paint matched to PMS 5477 C are made to order. Lead times vary based on the format you select and current production volume, but you should expect some turnaround time for production before your order ships. If your application is time-sensitive, review the estimated lead time for your preferred product format and plan accordingly. Factoring this in helps ensure timely delivery for marketing rollouts or display project schedules.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 5477 C?

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Can I use the Pantone PMS 5477 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 5477 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 5477 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
