PMS 528 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) color from the Pantone PMS collection. This color presents as a meaningful mid-tone violet, with a balance between coolness and muted warmth, moderate chroma, and a noticeably saturated yet not overpowering effect. PMS 528 C gives off a technical, modern, energetic, and moderately vibrant vibe, often chosen for branding applications that require visual impact without resorting to extremes in lightness or chromatic intensity.
PMS 528 C appears as a mid-value color, with a light reflectance value (LRV) of 24.92, indicating moderate darkness. The color exhibits a cool tonal tendency, reflecting its violet base and a subtle blue influence. The saturation is moderate to high, giving the color presence and intensity in application. This color has an undertone that can lean blue or slightly magenta depending on surrounding colors and lighting. PMS 528 C is sensitive to finish: higher gloss can increase apparent saturation, while matte finishes may impart a more muted, subdued appearance.
PMS 528 C performs well in branded environments, displays, and identity elements where clear color differentiation is desired and where a saturated violet must be recognized as distinct and modern. Users should confirm appearance under intended lighting, as this hue shifts subtly between blue and magenta perception depending on environment. Coverage may require additional coats, especially over contrasting substrates, due to the color’s moderate chroma and reflectance. PMS 528 C may appear cooler or warmer depending on finish, materials, and adjacent colors, so sampling the actual paint under real conditions is recommended.

Pantone PMS 528 C is often specified in sign, display, and exhibit fabrication as a brand-standard color. Organizations that require consistent visual branding across various materials use PMS 528 C to ensure their signage or displays reflect the intended brand identity. When fabricating elements with this color, it is best practice to sample the color on the actual substrate and finish intended for the project, as colors like PMS 528 C can shift in appearance due to substrate, gloss, lighting, and viewing angle. Confirming results under final lighting conditions helps avoid surprises and ensures brand consistency.
When using Pantone PMS 528 C on metal or powder-coated parts, surface preparation is critical. All surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned and scuffed as needed to promote adhesion, and any existing coatings may affect the final color, especially for a moderately saturated color like PMS 528 C. The gloss level and type of substrate can also change how the color appears. Always test the paint on sample parts in the actual gloss and finish to confirm that the result meets your brand requirements before full production.
The code 'PMS 528 C' uniquely identifies this color within the Pantone system and removes any doubt about the exact target. Pantone color names can be similar or abbreviated, which may lead to confusion or mistakes in ordering. Always provide the exact Pantone number, including suffixes like 'C', to ensure you receive paint matched to the correct standard. This is especially important for brand-sensitive applications where visual accuracy is required.
Whether a primer is needed before applying Pantone PMS 528 C depends on the substrate, selected paint type, and the intended use environment. Primers improve adhesion and may be required on bare metal, plastics, or other surfaces where bonding could be an issue. A primer can also help achieve better uniform coverage, which is important for colors like PMS 528 C that may show coverage issues over contrasting backgrounds. Review the primer recommendations for your specific paint system and substrate, and consider sampling to confirm results before full application.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 528 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
