PMS 516 C is a Pantone Matching System color distinguished by its lightness and soft, muted lavender character. The system/collection for this color is Pantone PMS. The overall vibe is understated, professional, gentle, and restrained, with a cool and subtle appearance that avoids vivid saturation. Its color direction is appropriate for applications seeking a controlled yet expressive purple-floral note without dominating a palette.

PMS 516 C appears light in value (LRV approximately 56.68). The color tends toward a cool visual temperature. It demonstrates moderate, muted saturation rather than high chromatic intensity. PMS 516 C contains a clear lavender or violet undertone, with a slightly grayish/mauve cast. The color is not highly sensitive to changes in sheen, but perceived softness may increase in matte finishes. PMS 516 C exhibits reduced risk of harshness under most lighting conditions due to its muted character.

PMS 516 C is operationally effective in brand-focused environments where a light, subtle purple is needed—such as for corporate identity elements, branded interiors, or prototype displays aiming for a gentle accent. Users should verify appearance under actual site lighting, as cooler lavenders can shift toward blue or gray, particularly in cool or low light sources. Compared to more saturated or darker purples, PMS 516 C offers less visual weight and is unlikely to overpower other brand colors in composite applications.

Similar colors:
PMS 522 C: Slightly lighter and cooler, with a more blue-oriented subtlety.

PMS 528 C: Darker and more chromatic, presenting a fuller purple presence.

PMS 529 C: Lighter and less saturated, closer to an off-white with a lavender hint.

PMS 5145 C: More neutral and muted, showing a grayer and less colorful appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 516 C

How do I make sure I am ordering the correct version of Pantone PMS 516 C for my project?

When specifying Pantone PMS 516 C, always double-check your brand standards or reference documentation to confirm the exact code, including any series or suffix (such as C, U, or M). Different Pantone suffixes can refer to different substrates or finishes. Using the precise code ensures the most accurate color match for branded displays, signage, or environments.

What is the recommended method for applying Pantone PMS 516 C spray paint to get a professional finish?

For best results with Pantone PMS 516 C spray paint, apply several thin, even coats rather than one heavy coat. Allow sufficient drying or flash time between each layer to support smooth coverage and accurate color appearance. This method helps prevent runs and promotes the best possible brand color consistency on your display or prototype components.

How can Pantone PMS 516 C be used effectively for prototypes or concept models where brand color accuracy matters?

Pantone PMS 516 C is often used on prototypes and concept models to represent approved brand colors. Select a paint format that matches the intended evaluation use, such as spray paint for overall color or paint pens for detailing. View samples under your intended lighting to confirm appearance before full production, as shifts in color can occur in different environments or on various surfaces.

What should I consider when using Pantone PMS 516 C paint on plastics or low energy surfaces?

Plastics and other low surface energy materials can have adhesion challenges with any paint, including Pantone PMS 516 C. Results may depend on the specific type of plastic. Priming or specialized adhesion promoters could be necessary. It is best to test the paint on your actual plastic substrate before moving to full-scale production to assess compatibility and coverage.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 516 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 516 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 516 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 516 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 516 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
