Pantone® PMS 4685 C. Paint And Spray Paint. MyPerfectColor is the official licensee of Pantone and authorized to reproduce the Pantone Matching System colors in spray paint and other paints.

PMS 4685 C from the Pantone PMS collection is a light, soft, yellow-based beige with a restrained, understated, and neutral character. The color delivers a subtle appearance that reads as warm, approachable, and controlled, offering utility as a background tone or secondary brand color where a subdued visual effect is required.

- PMS 4685 C is a light color, with a relatively high LRV (66.01), offering good reflectance and visual softness. - The color has a noticeably warm tendency, with its hue aligned to yellow-beige. - PMS 4685 C exhibits low to moderate chroma, contributing to its muted, unsaturated appearance. - The undertone is predominantly yellow, with subtle tan notes that avoid strong pink or grey effects. - This color’s muted nature generally makes it less sensitive to finish changes than many more chromatic colors, though slight gloss can increase perceived warmth.

PMS 4685 C works well wherever a light, non-intrusive base or backdrop is needed that must still align with specified brand targets. It tends to maintain visual consistency across a range of materials and under most standard lighting but may appear slightly yellower in warm, incandescent conditions. Compared to other light beiges, it reads as slightly more neutral and avoids drifting toward pink, orange, or overt grey. For maximum accuracy, always verify with a physical Pantone standard and view samples in intended lighting and finish, especially for large scale graphics or displays.

Similar colors:
PMS 7506 C: Lighter, with a more neutral-to-cool appearance and less yellow influence.

PMS 468 C: Darker and slightly warmer, with increased tan intensity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 4685 C

What should I consider when using Pantone PMS 4685 C in a retail or pop-up environment?

When using Pantone PMS 4685 C for displays or walls in retail or pop-up environments, review the site lighting and substrate conditions before making large-scale decisions. Lighting type can affect how PMS 4685 C appears-its warm, light beige tone may look yellower under incandescent light. For high-traffic areas or temporary installations, select a paint format and finish rated for the expected wear and cleaning requirements. Sampling PMS 4685 C on your actual material and viewing it in final lighting helps ensure brand consistency and avoids surprises at installation.

Do I need to use a primer before applying Pantone PMS 4685 C paint?

Whether you need a primer for Pantone PMS 4685 C depends on the surface material, the selected paint type, and the installation environment. Primers are especially important on uncoated, porous, glossy, or previously painted substrates where adhesion or coverage may be a concern. A primer can also help PMS 4685 C achieve more uniform color and better hide, especially over darker colors. For detailed guidance, refer to the primer recommendations provided with your paint format or reach out to MyPerfectColor support with information about your specific project and substrate.

How closely will Pantone PMS 4685 C paint match my Pantone book reference?

The Pantone book serves as a color reference standard for targets like PMS 4685 C, but there may be slight differences in appearance when the color is reproduced as paint. Factors like the chosen sheen, paint type, substrate, and viewing angle all influence how PMS 4685 C will look in real-world applications. For critical brand or display work, it is best to test a sample of PMS 4685 C on your material and under your actual lighting before proceeding with a full order. This helps ensure visual alignment with Pantone brand standards on the intended installation.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 4685 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
