PMS 455 C is part of the Pantone PMS collection, used frequently for precise specification in branding and environmental design. This color gives a grounded, earthy, and muted visual impression, balancing warmth with subdued character. It is perceived as organic, practical, and understated, making it suitable for projects requiring a stable and natural presence. The low light reflectance value (LRV 9.01) indicates a deep, shadowed tone with limited brightness under typical lighting.

Pantone PMS 455 C appears quite dark, with limited brightness due to its low light reflectance value. The color exhibits a distinct warm tendency, influenced by an olive-brown hue. The saturation level is moderate, producing a muted, natural effect. PMS 455 C displays strong brown and green undertones, which can shift subtly depending on surrounding colors and lighting. This color is somewhat sensitive to finish; higher sheens may accentuate green-olive aspects, while matte finishes may mute the appearance further.

PMS 455 C is frequently selected where a stable, unobtrusive brand or environmental presence is needed, such as in sustainability or agricultural contexts, or where earthy, industrial tones are central to the brand palette. It works well in settings with controlled lighting and where surface prep ensures an even, streak-free result; uneven or glossy finishes may highlight greenish shifts or minor imperfections. Compared to similar muted olive or brown tones, PMS 455 C offers more depth and a distinctly organic undertone, delivering reliable visual differentiation without overwhelming adjacent colors.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 455 C

How can lighting affect how PMS 455 C appears in my brand display?

PMS 455 C is a deep olive-brown that can look noticeably different under various light sources. Standard indoor lighting, daylight, or fluorescent lamps may each highlight different undertones in the color. It is best to view samples of PMS 455 C in the same lighting and environment where your brand or display will be installed to confirm the intended appearance. This helps avoid surprises and ensures your brand standards are met.

What lead time should I expect when ordering paint matched to PMS 455 C?

Paint matched to PMS 455 C is made to order for each request. Lead times can vary depending on the format you select, such as spray paint, paint pens, or other options, as well as current production volume. Most orders typically ship within a few business days, but larger or complex orders may take longer. Plan ahead if your project has specific deadlines or coordination needs.

Will the sheen I choose affect how PMS 455 C looks?

Yes, PMS 455 C can appear quite different depending on the gloss or finish selected. A matte finish generally makes PMS 455 C look more muted and subdues its olive-green character, while higher gloss will increase apparent brightness and can highlight the color''s subtle green undertones. Always compare samples with the exact finish you intend to use for your brand or display to ensure you get the expected result.

What should I know about coverage and undercoats when using PMS 455 C paint?

PMS 455 C is a deep, moderately saturated color with a low light reflectance value. For best uniformity and brand consistency, consider using an appropriate undercoat, especially when painting over high-contrast or light substrates. Multiple coats may be required to achieve solid and streak-free color, especially in large or brand-critical applications. Testing on your intended surface is recommended to confirm coverage expectations before full installation.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 455 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 455 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 455 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
