PMS 379 C from the Pantone PMS collection is a yellow-green with a light, noticeable character and a subtle muted quality. This color is typically described as fresh, modern, and clean, while also being somewhat understated and technical. It is commonly specified in marketing, signage, and display fabrication where accurate color communication and consistent branding are required.

PMS 379 C appears noticeably light, with a high LRV of 74.16. The color leans warm due to its strong yellow undertones with a greenish cast. It exhibits moderate to high saturation, giving it clear visual presence without being overwhelmingly vivid. The undertone is distinctly yellow-green, which can amplify perceived brightness under daylight or cool white lighting. The color may be sensitive to finish selection: a matte finish will make it appear more muted, while gloss or semi-gloss will enhance vibrancy and shift perceived saturation.

PMS 379 C works well when a fresh, contemporary yellow-green is required to draw attention or signal a sense of approachability. It is often specified for visual branding elements in environments where lightness and clarity matter. Users should test this color in context, as lighting conditions can strongly influence both the warmth and brightness. Surfaces should be primed to avoid undertone shifts, and evenness of application is important due to the color’s relatively light value compared to other strong brand colors.

Similar colors:
PMS 380 C – Slightly lighter and more chromatic, with a crisper, more vibrant yellow-green appearance.

PMS 381 C – Stronger, greener, and more saturated, imparting greater intensity.

PMS 388 C – Paler and more pastel, appearing softer and less vibrant than PMS 379 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 379 C

What does it mean to order paint matched to Pantone PMS 379 C?

Ordering paint matched to Pantone PMS 379 C means you are requesting a color that matches the Pantone PMS 379 C visual target as closely as possible in paint. Pantone PMS is a standard for consistent color communication across materials. It is important to understand that PMS 379 C is a color reference, not a specific paint formula or finish specification. The exact appearance can vary by substrate, product type, and application method. Always confirm the intended color code from your brand standards and consider requesting a sample if your project requires exact brand alignment across multiple surfaces.

How can I get help choosing the right paint type for Pantone PMS 379 C?

If you need assistance selecting the best paint type for Pantone PMS 379 C, contact MyPerfectColor and share your project's details, including the surface material, exposure conditions, and the look or durability you need. Our team will help recommend the most appropriate format, such as spray paint, paint pen, or liquid paint, to ensure you get the best result for your branding or display requirements.

Why is it important to confirm the PMS 379 C code and suffix before ordering paint?

Pantone colors like PMS 379 C often have suffixes such as 'C' for coated or 'U' for uncoated, and this can affect the intended color reference. Before ordering, check your brand guidelines or documentation to ensure you are specifying the correct Pantone code and suffix for your project. Using the wrong reference could result in a color mismatch and inconsistencies in your branding or display elements.

What are the basic surface preparation steps before applying Pantone PMS 379 C paint?

Proper surface preparation is essential for achieving the best results with Pantone PMS 379 C paint. Make sure to clean and degrease the surface, lightly scuff glossy areas if needed, and ensure it is fully dry before painting. For lighter colors like PMS 379 C, priming the surface is recommended to prevent undertone shifts and promote even coverage. Always test a small area first to confirm adhesion and appearance before full application.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 379 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
