PMS 343 C is a Pantone PMS system color recognized for its role in brand, marketing, and display applications. The color is visually characterized by its dark, saturated green appearance with a subdued, composed, and professional vibe. The overall impression is one of seriousness and stability, often associated with institutional and collegiate branding environments.

PMS 343 C appears distinctly dark, with a low light reflectance value (LRV 6.24). The color exhibits an unmistakably cool undertone, aligning it with forest or emerald greens. PMS 343 C maintains strong saturation, presenting as a deep, assertive hue rather than a bright or vivid green. The undertone leans toward blue-green, contributing to its coolness and visual depth. The appearance of PMS 343 C may shift slightly depending on gloss or matte finishes, with increased richness in higher gloss applications.

PMS 343 C is used effectively when a deep, professional green is needed to convey tradition and trust, commonly in brand-facing displays, signage, and environments. Careful consideration should be given to lighting, as the color can appear nearly black in low light. Uneven surfaces or poor surface preparation can result in inconsistent appearance due to the depth of tone. Compared to other dark greens, PMS 343 C stands out for its cooler, bluer character, making it visually sharper and less muted than earthier greens.

Similar colors:
PMS 342 C is slightly lighter and warmer, presenting more yellow-green influence.

PMS 3308 C is even darker and cooler, with a more muted, almost blackened green character.

PMS 554 C is lighter with less saturation, offering a softer look that is less assertive than PMS 343 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 343 C

What safety and VOC considerations should I be aware of when using PMS 343 C paint products?

When using any paint matched to PMS 343 C, safety practices and VOC (volatile organic compound) guidelines depend on the specific product format you choose, such as spray paint, paint pens, or other coatings. Always read and follow the instructions, warnings, and proper handling procedures on the product label. You should review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for your selected PMS 343 C paint to understand hazards and recommended safeguards, including ventilation and personal protective equipment. Make sure to work in a well-ventilated area and avoid inhaling vapors or spray mist. Proper disposal of all materials is also important for safety and compliance.

When is primer recommended before applying PMS 343 C paint?

Whether you need a primer before applying PMS 343 C depends on the surface material, the type of paint you select, and the project environment. Primer is generally important for unpainted, porous, or glossy surfaces, or when switching between different materials such as metals, plastics, or woods. Using a primer can improve the adhesion, coverage, and uniformity of PMS 343 C, especially since deep, saturated greens may need extra hide. For best results, check the guidance for your specific paint type or consult a primer selection resource to match your substrate and application method.

How can lighting affect the appearance of PMS 343 C in displays or branded environments?

The appearance of PMS 343 C can shift noticeably depending on the lighting conditions where it is viewed. This color is dark and cool-toned, so it may look nearly black in dim light or appear more vibrant and saturated under bright, cool (daylight) sources. Differences between indoor, outdoor, and various artificial light types can impact how accurate your matched paint looks compared to the Pantone standard. For the best results, evaluate a sample of PMS 343 C under the actual lighting conditions where the final display or component will be used before committing to large-scale production.

What is the best way to apply PMS 343 C spray paint for consistent coverage and finish?

To achieve a uniform, brand-accurate result with PMS 343 C spray paint, it is important to apply multiple thin coats rather than one heavy coat. Allow appropriate drying or flash time between coats as indicated on your product label. This approach helps prevent drips, ensures better color build, and supports the deep, saturated appearance expected from PMS 343 C. Following these application habits can also improve coverage, which is especially important for dark, highly pigmented greens like PMS 343 C.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 343 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 343 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 343 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How much area will one spray can cover? And what is Pantone PMS 343 C spray paint made of?

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 343 C. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

See our Primer Selection Table to see what primer you might need and learn more about when you might need a primer. Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 343 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 343 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
