Pantone™ PMS 3282 C

PMS 3282 C may appear noticeably different when switching between matte and gloss finishes, even though the color target remains the same. Higher gloss levels increase perceived saturation and brightness, making the color appear more vivid and deep. Matte finishes may mute the color, causing it to seem subdued and slightly lighter. For brand-sensitive applications where color consistency is critical, always evaluate samples in the intended finish before finalizing your order.

Whether you need a primer for PMS 3282 C depends on the paint type, your substrate, and the environment. Primers are usually recommended for unpainted surfaces, surfaces with existing discoloration, or when additional adhesion is needed. For the best color uniformity and durability, priming is especially advisable on porous substrates and where strong brand color fidelity is required. When using PMS 3282 C for prototypes or concept models, match both the color code and intended finish to what is specified in brand guidelines. Choose a paint format suitable for the model material, such as spray paint or brush-in-cap bottles. Be sure to observe the color on the final substrate under typical lighting conditions, as both substrate and lighting can influence perception. For approval workflows, provide painted samples to stakeholders for visual alignment before moving to production.

PMS 3282 C is a dark, saturated color that can sometimes require additional coats for even coverage, especially over light or unevenly colored substrates. To maximize color uniformity and hide, consider using a primer or appropriate undercoat that is similar in value to the finish color. Planning for extra coats and proper surface preparation helps achieve a consistent, brand-targeted result, especially in high-visibility marketing or display projects.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
