PMS 3282 C from the Pantone PMS system is a strongly saturated, dark teal with a cool character and a stable, professional vibe. This color is frequently referenced in marketing and display fabrication, where visual brand accuracy is a primary goal. Its appearance projects attributes such as technical, authoritative, stable, and contemporary, making it suitable for situations demanding presence without overstatement.

PMS 3282 C appears dark, with an LRV of 15.27 indicating relatively low reflectance. The color exhibits a distinctly cool temperature, leaning toward a blue-green profile. PMS 3282 C shows high saturation, resulting in vividness and strong chromatic impact. The undertone is a balanced mix between blue and green, with a slightly more aquatic or bluish direction. The color’s perceived richness and depth may be influenced by finish selection: glossy finishes can exaggerate its vibrancy, while matte finishes may subdue its impact.

PMS 3282 C works well in branded environments where color accuracy and visual consistency are critical, such as trade show components, marketing assets, or retail display fabrications. Because it is dark and highly saturated, the color may display minor surface imperfections or fingerprints more readily, especially in gloss finishes. It tends to maintain its hue integrity under varying lighting conditions, but shifts slightly more toward blue in cooler lighting and neutralizes somewhat in warmer light. When compared to other dark blue-greens, PMS 3282 C offers a slightly clearer, less muted appearance with minimal grayness.

Similar colors:
PMS 3268 C: Lighter and more vibrant; displays a sharper, more chromatic teal tone.

PMS 3292 C: Darker and slightly less saturated; shifts closer to a forest green with more subdued blue notes.

PMS 320 C: Lighter and cooler; leans more noticeably toward blue, reducing the visual weight compared to PMS 3282 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 3282 C

Will PMS 3282 C look the same in matte and gloss finishes?

PMS 3282 C may appear noticeably different when switching between matte and gloss finishes, even though the color target remains the same. Higher gloss levels increase perceived saturation and brightness, making the color appear more vivid and deep. Matte finishes may mute the color, causing it to seem subdued and slightly lighter. For brand-sensitive applications where color consistency is critical, always evaluate samples in the intended finish before finalizing your order.

Do I need a primer when applying Pantone PMS 3282 C paint?

Whether you need a primer for PMS 3282 C depends on the paint type, your substrate, and the environment. Primers are usually recommended for unpainted surfaces, surfaces with existing discoloration, or when additional adhesion is needed. For the best color uniformity and durability, priming is especially advisable on porous substrates and where strong brand color fidelity is required. If you are unsure, review substrate and primer guidance provided on MyPerfectColor or consult with your project manager before ordering.

How should I specify PMS 3282 C paint for prototype or concept model evaluation?

When using PMS 3282 C for prototypes or concept models, match both the color code and intended finish to what is specified in brand guidelines. Choose a paint format suitable for the model material, such as spray paint or brush-in-cap bottles. Be sure to observe the color on the final substrate under typical lighting conditions, as both substrate and lighting can influence perception. For approval workflows, provide painted samples to stakeholders for visual alignment before moving to production.

What should I consider about coverage when ordering Pantone PMS 3282 C?

PMS 3282 C is a dark, saturated color that can sometimes require additional coats for even coverage, especially over light or unevenly colored substrates. To maximize color uniformity and hide, consider using a primer or appropriate undercoat that is similar in value to the finish color. Planning for extra coats and proper surface preparation helps achieve a consistent, brand-targeted result, especially in high-visibility marketing or display projects.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 3282 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 3282 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 3282 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
