PMS 323 C, from the Pantone PMS collection, is a saturated, dark teal with a clearly cool orientation and strong chromatic presence. The color conveys a technical, assertive, contemporary, and visually impactful vibe, suitable for branding and identity work in environments where memorability and visual differentiation are key.

PMS 323 C appears distinctly dark, with a low LRV of 8.5. The color displays a pronounced cool tendency, driven by its teal hue. PMS 323 C offers high saturation, resulting in vivid, intense color impact. The undertone is primarily blue-green, leaning toward blue more than yellow. This color is highly sensitive to finish and lighting, with gloss increasing vibrancy and matte finishes appearing more subdued.

PMS 323 C is often used to specify brand colors for physical displays, marketing fixtures, and signage requiring accurate, saturated teal representation. The color is sometimes referenced in global branding programs needing a teal with strong presence and reliable reproducibility in paint applications.

PMS 323 C performs well in visual brand installations and fabricated components where a deep, saturated teal is needed for identity consistency. Users should confirm appearance under actual lighting conditions, as low LRV colors can appear even deeper and more dramatic, particularly in low light or matte finishes. Extra care should be given to substrate preparation and uniform base coats, as highly chromatic teals may require additional coats for full, even coverage. Compared with other dark teals, PMS 323 C maintains a cooler, more blue-leaning character.

This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 323 C

How accurately can MyPerfectColor match PMS 323 C in paint, and what should I expect when specifying this Pantone color?

PMS 323 C is a saturated, deep teal from the Pantone PMS collection. Matching this type of color in paint can be challenging because vivid, highly chromatic hues often behave differently across materials and finishes. MyPerfectColor formulates each order using the Pantone Matching System as a target standard and aims to provide results that visually align with brand expectations under typical viewing conditions. However, you should evaluate both a physical PMS 323 C reference and a painted sample in your actual lighting and finish. Differences in finish and substrate may affect the perceived color, especially with deep colors like PMS 323 C.

Does PMS 323 C require special undercoats or extra coats when used as a paint for branding or displays?

PMS 323 C is a dark, highly saturated teal with a low light reflectance value. This means it may not provide full coverage in a single coat, especially over light or uneven surfaces. For best results, plan on using a uniform undercoat, typically a medium gray, to improve coverage and appearance. Highly chromatic Pantone colors like PMS 323 C often need multiple coats to achieve even, vibrant color and avoid patchiness. Always prepare the substrate carefully and confirm coverage in your intended lighting and finish.

Why is it important to specify the full Pantone code, including the 'C' in PMS 323 C, when ordering paint?

The full Pantone code, including suffixes like 'C' for coated, is essential to ensure the correct color reference. PMS 323 C refers specifically to the coated version of this color as defined by the Pantone Matching System. Brand standards, ordering documents, or style guides should indicate the precise code. Ordering paint for 'PMS 323 C' ensures alignment with the intended brand color target and reduces risk of mistakes or rework.

What is the expected lead time for paint matched to PMS 323 C?

Paint matched to PMS 323 C is made to order, as each order is formulated for color accuracy. Lead times depend on the product type and current production volume. Spray paint, specialty formats, or larger quantities may require additional production time. It is best to check current estimates at checkout and allow enough time in your production schedule to evaluate samples and complete your project on time.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 323 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 323 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Can I use the Pantone PMS 323 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
