PMS 2756 C from the Pantone PMS system is a dark, cool-toned blue-violet with strong saturation and a distinctly technical, authoritative, and modern vibe. The color’s visual weight and low reflectance make it a bold choice for brand and design projects requiring high visibility and consistency.

- PMS 2756 C appears very dark in value, with an LRV of 2.1 indicating minimal reflectance. - The color displays a cool temperature due to its blue-violet hue. - This color is strongly saturated, giving it visual intensity and clarity. - PMS 2756 C has a blue-based undertone with a subtle violet character. - The appearance of PMS 2756 C is sensitive to finish; it can shift to appear richer or flatter depending on gloss or matte selections and ambient lighting.

PMS 2756 C is well suited for branded graphics, signage, and display components where a deep, assertive blue-violet is required for strong visual identity. Due to its darkness and high chroma, lighting conditions will have a pronounced effect on its appearance; bright, direct illumination will accentuate its saturation, while dim or diffuse lighting will make it appear almost black. Coverage can be challenging due to the strength of the colorant; additional coats or primers may be necessary for full opacity, especially over lighter substrates. Compared to other blue-violets, it offers a bolder and cooler visual impact.

PMS 2755 C is similar but darker and reads as a deeper, more neutral midnight blue.

PMS 2746 C is lighter and displays a noticeably higher blue component with less violet influence.

PMS 2766 C is related but appears slightly warmer and more muted, with less intense chroma.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2756 C

Can Pantone PMS 2756 C be used to touch up existing finishes?

Pantone PMS 2756 C is not recommended as a specification for touching up existing finishes. Pantone codes define a target color but do not specify gloss, substrate, or application variables. Even if new paint is matched to PMS 2756 C, differences in sheen, surface texture, and aging of the original coating may create visible mismatches. For accuracy on existing products, use the original manufacturer specification or submit a physical sample for precise matching instead.

What surface preparation steps should I take before applying paint matched to PMS 2756 C?

To achieve the best results and brand consistency when using paint matched to PMS 2756 C, start by cleaning and degreasing the surface to remove contaminants. Lightly scuff glossy or smooth areas to improve adhesion. Make sure the surface is dry and free of dust before painting. It is a good idea to test a small area first to confirm coverage and adhesion, especially since PMS 2756 C is dark and strongly saturated. Over light-colored substrates, a tinted primer may help achieve full opacity.

How does lighting affect the way Pantone PMS 2756 C will appear in my project?

The appearance of PMS 2756 C can vary significantly under different lighting conditions. Because this color is very dark and saturated, its look will shift depending on the type and intensity of light. Bright, direct lighting can make the blue-violet character more vivid, while dim or diffuse lighting may cause the color to appear almost black. To ensure your project achieves the intended visual effect, always evaluate PMS 2756 C samples under the same lighting conditions as the final installation.

Should I choose a matte or gloss finish for PMS 2756 C in a branding application?

The choice between matte and gloss finishes for PMS 2756 C affects both color impact and practical viewing. Gloss finishes provide greater punch and saturation, making the color more vivid and reflective, which works well for high-visibility graphics but may introduce glare. Matte finishes reduce glare and can appear richer up close, but the color may seem flatter and less intense at a distance or under subdued lighting. Consider where and how PMS 2756 C will be viewed to select the finish that best supports your brand goals.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 2756 C?

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2756 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 2756 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2756 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
