PMS 252 C is a standardized color from the Pantone PMS system. It is visually identified as a strong, saturated purple with a distinctly cool profile and vivid presence. Commonly described as vibrant, brand-forward, assertive, and modern, this color stands out for its brightness and chromatic clarity within the purple family.

PMS 252 C appears medium-dark, with an LRV of 25.96 indicating moderate light reflectance.

This color is cool in overall temperature, leaning toward the blue side of violet.

It is highly saturated, offering strong chromatic intensity.

The undertone is distinctly bluish, with little warmth.

PMS 252 C is sensitive to finish; gloss can increase perceived depth and brightness, while matte finishes may give it a softer, flatter appearance.

PMS 252 C is frequently specified when a visually assertive, recognizable purple is needed for branding, displays, or marketing assets. It is effective for drawing attention in settings where bold, differentiated colors contribute to brand recognition. When matching this color in paint, review under the intended lighting and finish, as both factors significantly affect appearance and intensity. Coverage can require multiple coats, typical of highly saturated purples, so surface preparation and priming may be necessary to ensure uniformity. When compared with similar purples, PMS 252 C stands out for its higher chroma and cooler undertone, but subtle shifts may occur depending on lighting nuance.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 253 C: Slightly darker and more muted, producing a more subdued effect.
  • PMS 2592 C: Warmer and pinker, with less of the bluish coolness of PMS 252 C.
  • PMS 2415 C: Lighter in value and less saturated, resulting in a softer violet appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 252 C

What should I consider when using PMS 252 C in pop-up or retail environments?

When using PMS 252 C in pop-up or retail environments, assess both lighting and finish before installing at scale. This saturated, cool violet is sensitive to lighting and sheen; its appearance may shift between bright, overhead retail lights and softer ambient lighting. Sampling PMS 252 C on your actual substrate and under planned lighting is strongly recommended before a full rollout. Also, vivid colors like PMS 252 C may need multiple coats for full coverage, so plan surface preparation accordingly to achieve a uniform, brand-consistent result.

Can I get PMS 252 C paint faster if I have a tight deadline?

If your project requires PMS 252 C on a deadline, you can choose expedited production during checkout. For critical due dates, it is best to contact MyPerfectColor directly to confirm production and shipping timelines. Planning ahead is especially important for marketing or brand installations where color accuracy is essential.

Why is it important to confirm the exact code when ordering PMS 252 C paint?

Pantone codes like PMS 252 C may include critical suffixes or series information, such as C, U, or variants. Before ordering PMS 252 C paint, verify the correct code with your brand standards or documentation to ensure you are matching the intended reference. Using the wrong suffix can result in a noticeable color difference and may not meet your brand or project requirements.

How do I get help choosing the best paint type for PMS 252 C?

Can I use the Pantone PMS 252 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
