PMS 182 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, widely specified for branding, displays, and marketing environments. This color is described as light, soft, and gentle, with a clean and approachable impression. Its appearance can be considered muted, warm, and understated due to its low chroma and subtle red undertone.

PMS 182 C is light in appearance (LRV 58.47). The color presents a warm tendency, with a red-based pink hue. Saturation is moderate, appearing delicate rather than intense. The undertone skews toward a subdued, warm red, with minimal visual "blue" influence. This color responds subtly to finish; matte/prepared surfaces further soften its impact, while higher-gloss or smooth finishes may increase visual vibrancy.

PMS 182 C works well in settings that require a light and friendly pink, such as display systems or branded environments targeting an approachable, contemporary look. In environments with cool or neutral lighting, the soft red-pink undertone will remain prominent but may show slight shifts toward grayness under certain fluorescent or LED sources. Gloss levels can influence the perceived softness; a matte finish mutes the visual impact, while higher gloss can add a slight brightness. Compared to similar light pinks, PMS 182 C maintains a warmer and subtler profile, making it less stark against white and less saturated than deeper branding pinks.

Similar colors:
PMS 1767 C – Slightly lighter and more neutral, appearing less warm.

PMS 189 C – Deeper and more saturated, creating a stronger pink impression.

PMS 203 C – Cooler and slightly more vivid, with a more pronounced bluish-pink hue.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 182 C

What should I expect regarding the durability of PMS 182 C spray paint for branding or display applications?

The durability of PMS 182 C spray paint depends on factors such as substrate preparation, the use of primers or topcoats, and the environment where it is applied. For best results, ensure the surface is properly cleaned and primed. Adding a protective clear topcoat can help if the display is exposed to handling or moisture. For short-term interior branding or event use, standard spray formats are usually suitable. For longer installations or situations with high wear, consider specifying a more durable paint system or protective coating. Choosing the right paint type for your purpose is key to maintaining a consistent PMS 182 C appearance.

When is it recommended to sample PMS 182 C paint before a full production run?

It is best to sample PMS 182 C paint when working on high-visibility or brand-critical projects, or when the installation is large or permanent. Sampling is also important if the color will appear under specific lighting conditions or on substrates that may influence the final appearance. Reviewing a painted sample lets you verify that PMS 182 C meets your approval standards under real project conditions and reduces the risk of visual mismatch before committing to a full production order.

What are key considerations when using PMS 182 C in pop-up or retail environments?

When specifying PMS 182 C in pop-up or retail environments, evaluate both durability needs and lighting conditions early in the planning process. Surfaces may experience frequent contact or changes in lighting, which can affect the color's look. Sampling PMS 182 C under the actual installed lighting is recommended to confirm the appearance. For high-traffic or long-duration pop-ups, choose a paint type that offers increased durability or plan for protective topcoats. Careful evaluation helps deliver the intended visual impact and brand consistency.

How do I order paint matched to Pantone PMS 182 C on MyPerfectColor?

To order paint matched to PMS 182 C, select the desired paint format (such as spray paint or other available types), then choose the appropriate sheen and quantity for your project. Make sure to review any options related to primers or protective topcoats if additional durability is needed. Confirm all selections before placing your order to ensure the correct product for your branding or display needs. If unsure, ordering a sample first helps confirm the match for PMS 182 C under your specific conditions.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 182 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
