PMS 1585 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) color, part of the Pantone PMS collection widely used in professional branding and display fabrication. The color presents a bold, energetic, and high-visibility appearance with a contemporary, dynamic, and graphic character. Its overall vibe is lively and assertive, making it practical for uses where strong color impact and brand recognition are required.

PMS 1585 C is moderately light, with a light reflectance value (LRV) of 32.8. The color shows a distinctly warm tendency, residing in the orange hue family. PMS 1585 C is highly saturated, providing strong chromatic intensity. The underlying undertone is clean and straightforward, lacking evident muting or earthiness. The color’s appearance can be sensitive to finish; high-gloss finishes amplify its brilliance, while matte finishes may subdue its vibrancy.

PMS 1585 C is frequently associated with marketing displays, branded product packaging, and event signage when clear color recognition is necessary. The color is often specified in branded environments and retail concepts for its ability to attract attention and impart a sense of energetic movement.

PMS 1585 C is an effective choice when a project requires a saturated orange that is easily noticed and matches specified brand standards. When using this color, confirm its visual performance under the actual lighting and surface finish, as changes in gloss or ambient light can alter its appearance significantly. Additional coats may be required to achieve consistent coverage due to the high chroma of the color, particularly over contrasting base surfaces. Compared to less saturated oranges, PMS 1585 C will deliver greater intensity and stands out more in visually busy environments.

Similar colors:
PMS 158 C: Slightly deeper and less vivid, appearing more muted and less intense.

PMS 1655 C: More reddish and deeper in tone, offering a slightly warmer impression.

PMS 021 C: Brighter and even more chromatic, pushing toward a brighter, more fluorescent appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 1585 C

What are best practices for comparing samples of Pantone PMS 1585 C during the approval process?

For accurate and consistent evaluation of Pantone PMS 1585 C, always compare samples under the same type of lighting that will be present in the final installation. Use identical substrates and sheens for both the reference and test samples, as texture and gloss can change how PMS 1585 C appears. Allow coatings to fully dry or cure before making final color judgments, since wet or uncured paint can differ noticeably from the finished look. These steps help ensure that approval decisions for PMS 1585 C reflect its appearance in real-world use.

How can I get Pantone PMS 1585 C paint faster for a deadline?

If you need Pantone PMS 1585 C by a specific date, expedited production options may be available at checkout. When timing is critical, it is strongly recommended to contact MyPerfectColor before ordering to confirm that the delivery schedule for PMS 1585 C meets your project needs and that expedited processing is possible for your selected product format.

How does surface texture affect how Pantone PMS 1585 C looks once applied?

The appearance of Pantone PMS 1585 C can change noticeably depending on surface texture. A smooth, glossy surface will make PMS 1585 C appear more vibrant and intense, while a matte or textured finish can make it seem a bit duller or lighter. Textures influence how light scatters and how shadows form, so it is important to sample PMS 1585 C on the same surface type you will use for the final project to confirm that the color delivers the intended impact.

Is Pantone PMS 1585 C a good choice for matching an existing part that needs color-touch up?

Pantone PMS 1585 C is designed for brand color reproduction and consistent visual branding. If you need to match an existing part for seamless appearance, instead of ordering paint by the Pantone code, you should send a physical part to MyPerfectColor for custom color matching. This is the best approach when your goal is for new coatings to blend visually with existing surfaces, since many factors influence how the color appears on real-world materials over time.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 1585 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
