PMS 132 C, from the Pantone Matching System (Pantone PMS collection), is a color that conveys an earthy, muted, and substantial presence. With a relatively low light reflectance value, it reads as grounded and reserved, suiting technical, practical, and understated design needs. The color is frequently described as ochre-like, organic, and visually anchoring.

PMS 132 C appears as a medium-dark yellow-brown, with a light reflectance value (LRV) of 22.93, indicating a subdued visual brightness. The color has a definitively warm tendency, consistent with its yellow and brown base notes. PMS 132 C exhibits moderate saturation, creating an earthy but not overwhelming presence. The undertone is distinctly ochre or mustard-like, with muted golden qualities. The color's appearance can shift with finish: glossy finishes can add vibrancy, while matte finishes emphasize its muted, organic character.

PMS 132 C works well in branding, signage, and display applications where an earthy, grounded tone is needed. In settings with warm or neutral lighting, it maintains its character, but cooler or high-chromatic lighting can make it appear less stable or slightly duller. This color is less likely to show strong surface flaws but may appear lighter or slightly more yellow in high-gloss finishes. When compared to similar colors, PMS 132 C will generally provide a more restrained, natural look without pushing into brighter or more synthetic yellow-gold territory.

Similar colors:
PMS 124 C – Lighter and more chromatic, presenting a brighter gold appearance.

PMS 131 C – Slightly darker and more brown, with less yellow content.

PMS 7752 C – Warmer and more saturated, with a stronger green-yellow cast.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 132 C

How can changing the finish (matte versus gloss) affect the appearance of PMS 132 C?

The finish you choose for PMS 132 C can significantly affect how the color is perceived. A gloss finish will make PMS 132 C appear brighter and slightly more saturated, while a matte finish will mute the color and emphasize its earthy character. If you are comparing a matte and a gloss version side by side, they may look noticeably different even if they come from the same color formula. For best results and accurate brand consistency, compare finish types directly or stick to the same sheen specified by your brand guidelines.

When should I order a standard Pantone PMS 132 C color match for my project?

Ordering a standard Pantone PMS 132 C match is appropriate when your project calls for brand-facing displays, signage, exhibit components, prototypes, or marketing installations where the official Pantone PMS color serves as the reference target. This approach is best when visual brand accuracy is the main goal and alignment with Pantone standards is required for consistency across marketing and display applications. It is not intended for touch-up or substrate-specific repair work.

How does surface texture influence the look of PMS 132 C?

The texture of your project surface can change how PMS 132 C appears once applied. Smooth surfaces reflect light more evenly, making the color look slightly brighter and cleaner. Rough or textured surfaces scatter light and create shadows, which can make PMS 132 C appear darker, less saturated, or subtly different even though the formula is the same. For consistent visual results across components, use similar surface textures and test a small area before full production.

What basic surface preparation is recommended before applying PMS 132 C paint?

To achieve the best results with PMS 132 C, start by making sure the surface is clean, dry, and free of oils or dust. Remove any grease with a suitable degreaser and lightly scuff glossy or very smooth surfaces to improve adhesion. It is practical to test the paint on a small, inconspicuous area to confirm color and appearance before completing the full application. Proper prep supports visual uniformity and durability of the finish.

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 132 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 132 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 132 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
