A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 33303 is a medium-light, muted tan-beige with a warm yellow-brown cast. It reads as subdued rather than bright, with moderate depth and low chroma that keeps the color grounded and practical-looking.

MyPerfectColor custom-matched paint made to match this government color reference can be used for touch-up and repaint work on panels, housings, brackets, enclosures, switch covers, rack parts, support hardware, fabricated components, and other spec-driven items. It is also a workable choice for maintenance and restoration tasks where a listed Fed Std 595C target needs to be carried across different substrates or replacement parts.

Because this is a reference match, finish, substrate, texture, and film build can change how the color appears after application. Darker or uneven surfaces may show more contrast or require additional coats for uniform coverage, and touching up an older in-service coating can reveal sheen or aging differences even when the code is correct. For acceptance-sensitive work, compare against the specified target or project-approved sample rather than relying on the code alone.

About US Government Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 Colors. Fed-Std-595C / FED STD 595 Colors

The Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 colors are used to specify colors for US Government applications. The color are used by the US Government agencies, branches and suppliers. The most common requests we receive for Fed Standard Colors are for spray paint, Direct to Metal and other paints for prototyping, marking and identification and touchup applications. Typical clients include the USCG, all branches of the Armed Services, the State Department, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. For example, we provided paint to the Navy for marking shells with the specific Fed Std color designated to identify the type of round.

We offer 5 standard sheens in our lacquer touchup paint: flat, low lustre, satin, semi-gloss or gloss. We also offer a full range of Alkyd and Acrylic Direct To Metal paints. Please contact us if you have any questions. Please submit RFQs to [email protected]

The colors in the Federal Standard set have no official names and are identified by five-digits. The numbers designate the sheen, color classification and color intensity.

The first digit will be 1,2 or 3 and indicates the level of sheen:
    1 = gloss
    2 = semi gloss
    3 = matt

The second digit indicates the color group;
      0 = Brown     5 = Blue
      1 = Red         6 = Grey
      2 = Orange   7 = Other (white, black, violet, metallic)
      3 = Yellow     8 = Fluorescent
      4 = Green

The third to fifth digits indicate the intensity. Lower numbers indicates a darker color and higher numbers indicate a lighter color.

While the Fed Std colors indicate sheen as part of the 5 digits, MyPerfectColor still requires you to enter a specific sheen. For example, the color Fed Std 37038 technically refers to a matte finish, but MyPerfectColor offers it in any sheen.

Frequently Asked Questions About Match of US Government™ Fed Std 595C 33303 *

What does Fed Std 595C 33303 mean for MyPerfectColor ordering?

A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 33303 is a government color reference target, not a complete coating specification. When you order MyPerfectColor paint matched to Fed Std 595C 33303, you are choosing the color reference. You still need to decide the product chemistry, gloss level, surface preparation, and any project approval requirements separately.

Will MyPerfectColor match Fed Std 595C 33303 if I am touching up an older in-service part?

It may match the code, but an older coating can still look different because of fade, weathering, sheen change, texture, or a different original coating system. If the repair area is next to an aged finish, a standard reference match to Fed Std 595C 33303 may not blend perfectly. For visible or acceptance-critical work, a sample panel, an existing-part match, or repainting the full part can be the safer choice.

How should I plan dry time and recoat timing for Fed Std 595C 33303 paint?

Dry time, recoat time, and full cure depend on the specific MyPerfectColor product format you order for Fed Std 595C 33303. Dry-to-touch is not the same as ready-for-recoat or fully cured, so use the instructions that come with the selected spray paint, touch-up paint, or other format. Plan the job around the product data for the exact item you choose.

What product formats can I order for Fed Std 595C 33303?

A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 33303 can be ordered as MyPerfectColor custom-matched paint in formats offered for specification-driven color work, including spray paint and other touch-up options where available. The color code is the reference target, while the final product format depends on how you plan to apply it and what the project requires.

When is a Fed Std 595C 33303 color match not enough for project acceptance?

If your procurement package, engineering authority, or inspection process requires approval against an existing part, a sample panel, or a specific coating system, matching Fed Std 595C 33303 alone may not be enough. In those cases, confirm whether the project needs a standard color-reference match or a project-specific match to the actual part or approved sample before ordering.
