RAL9016 Traffic White is a very high-lightness, slightly cool-toned white designed for visibility and widespread industrial use in contexts where a crisp, neutral white is desired. This shade exhibits a nearly pure white appearance with a subtle blue-green undertone, owed to its low negative a and small positive b values. Chroma is extremely low, resulting in a color that is almost entirely neutral and free from coloration-suiting functional, technical, and contemporary settings. Its high reflectance enhances visibility and can make finish differences (between matte and gloss) more noticeable.
Operationally, RAL9016 Traffic White is selected for its modern, clean character and adherence to RAL standards. These attributes make it a common choice for coatings in transportation, medical, or laboratory equipment, as well as architectural trim and public furnishings requiring high visibility and a clean, technical appearance. Note that its high lightness reveals surface imperfections and soiling, and finish choices will affect the perceived brightness and starkness.

RAL colors may vary from RAL Color Standards based on lighting conditions, angle of view and/or due to differences in pigments, manufacturing process, substrate and/or limitations in the color capability of the paint.
Use this decision check to avoid acceptance issues:
Bottom line: If inspection is against the RAL standard, order the standard match. If acceptance is against an existing finish or has strict cosmetic requirements, supply a sample or OEM powder code for a targeted match.
RAL 9016 specifies the color target only; sheen is not defined by the RAL code. Choose sheen based on how acceptance will be evaluated:
Note: Sheen mismatch can appear as a color mismatch, especially with whites like RAL 9016. When in doubt, order a small sample for on-site verification before bulk production.
Not necessarily. RAL defines the color target, not the coating process. Different powder suppliers and liquid paints can vary in gloss, texture, and pigment system, and installed parts may have aged or weathered. Our RAL 9016 products are matched to the official RAL standard; that may not visually match an OEM powder-coated part.
For the closest alignment to your part:
Use the standard RAL reference when cross-material coordination is acceptable or for low-criticality touch-ups. Choose OEM/sample matching for high-visibility areas, large repaints, or strict inspection requirements.
