• If your acceptance is against an existing or OEM powder-coated part: provide the powder brand/code, gloss target, and texture, or send a sample part/panel for a custom match. This reduces rejection risk from gloss/texture differences.
• If gloss/texture are not specified, any default finish may visually differ from your powder-coated parts even when the color matches the RAL reference.

• Substrate and service environment so the correct product system can be recommended.

Decision tip: If acceptance will be judged side-by-side and finish continuity matters, wait for a sample/OEM match. If the goal is quick protective repair with reasonable visual alignment, standard RAL 9003 is usually sufficient.

• Bare carbon steel: Abrade/clean to remove rust/scale. Use an epoxy or zinc-rich primer appropriate for the corrosion class, then topcoat with RAL 9003. A white or light gray primer improves hiding under white topcoats.
• Galvanized steel: Degrease and de-oxidize. Use a galvanized/wash/etch primer or an epoxy over a suitable conversion-treated surface to promote adhesion.
• Aluminum: Clean and lightly abrade. Use a conversion treatment or self-etching primer, then an epoxy build primer before the RAL 9003 topcoat.
• Previously coated or powder-coated surfaces: Clean, degloss/scuff, and test adhesion. Spot-prime any bare metal; full prime if the existing film is compromised.
• Plastics (ABS, PVC, etc.): Verify resin type and use a compatible adhesion promoter/primer system validated for that substrate.

Operational notes:

• Primer color affects whites-white or neutral light gray primers reduce show-through and minimize apparent color shift.
• Follow the specific product technical data sheet for compatibility, film thickness, and recoat windows.
