What to send/include: a representative flat piece (>=2×2 in / 50×50 mm), the area to match marked, any gloss/texture specs, and the product type you need (spray, touch-up, liquid). This reduces rework and return risk.

Texture and sheen change how the color is perceived. RAL specifies the color target, but not the surface profile.

• Powder "orange peel" vs smooth liquid: A textured surface scatters light and can make the same color appear lighter/duller.
• Gloss mismatch: Dark colors like RAL 5001 exaggerate differences between matte, satin, and gloss. A 30 GU part next to a 60 GU touch-up will not look the same.
• Substrate/film build: Metal vs plastic or thin vs thick films can shift appearance.

To minimize mismatch, specify the desired gloss (e.g., 30-40 GU @60 degrees) and any texture requirements. For critical matches, request a custom match and approve a sample panel before production.

Use standard RAL 5001 for rapid, low-criticality fixes where close visual harmony is acceptable:

• Small chips/scratches, corrosion control, or non-contiguous areas.
• Cross-material touch-ups where surrounding textures already differ.

Choose a custom or sample-based match for permanent, finish-critical work:

• Large panels or contiguous areas on the same plane.
• Inspection against installed parts or specified gloss/texture.

Note: Dark colors amplify gloss differences. If acceptance will be judged next to the existing surface, a custom match with defined gloss/texture reduces rejection risk.

However, keep in mind that our version of RAL5001 Green Blue is based on the color swatch contained in the official RAL color book.
