A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 30111 is a deep, muted warm brown with a red-orange undertone. It reads as earthy and subdued rather than bright, with low reflectance that gives it a heavier visual presence on small and medium parts.
MyPerfectColor custom-matched paint made to match this Fed Std 595C reference is useful when the goal is to follow the specified government color standard on a new part, repair, or prototype. It gives you a color target for specification-driven work without implying an official government coating system.
This color can be used on spray-painted parts such as brackets, housings, access panels, enclosures, support hardware, cabinets, carts, frames, and fabricated components. It also fits touch-up work on painted fixtures, equipment trim, and small accessories where a warm, low-chroma brown-red reference is called out in a drawing or maintenance document.
Because the color is dark and fairly muted, the substrate, primer color, sheen, and film build can still shift the final read. Lighter or uneven surfaces may show through if coverage is thin, and repairs beside aged coatings can reveal differences in gloss or weathering even when the code match is correct.

About US Government Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 Colors. Fed-Std-595C / FED STD 595 Colors
The Federal Standard (now Aerospace Material Specification / AMS) 595 colors are used to specify colors for US Government applications. The color are used by the US Government agencies, branches and suppliers. The most common requests we receive for Fed Standard Colors are for spray paint, Direct to Metal and other paints for prototyping, marking and identification and touchup applications. Typical clients include the USCG, all branches of the Armed Services, the State Department, Lockheed Martin and Boeing. For example, we provided paint to the Navy for marking shells with the specific Fed Std color designated to identify the type of round.
We offer 5 standard sheens in our lacquer touchup paint: flat, low lustre, satin, semi-gloss or gloss. We also offer a full range of Alkyd and Acrylic Direct To Metal paints. Please contact us if you have any questions. Please submit RFQs to [email protected]
The colors in the Federal Standard set have no official names and are identified by five-digits. The numbers designate the sheen, color classification and color intensity.
The first digit will be 1,2 or 3 and indicates the level of sheen:
1 = gloss
2 = semi gloss
3 = matt
The second digit indicates the color group;
0 = Brown 5 = Blue
1 = Red 6 = Grey
2 = Orange 7 = Other (white, black, violet, metallic)
3 = Yellow 8 = Fluorescent
4 = Green
The third to fifth digits indicate the intensity. Lower numbers indicates a darker color and higher numbers indicate a lighter color.
While the Fed Std colors indicate sheen as part of the 5 digits, MyPerfectColor still requires you to enter a specific sheen. For example, the color Fed Std 37038 technically refers to a matte finish, but MyPerfectColor offers it in any sheen.
Frequently Asked Questions About Match of US Government™ Fed Std 595C 30111 *
Does Fed Std 595C 30111 define the full coating system, or only the color target?
Fed Std 595C 30111 defines the government color reference target only. It does not by itself choose the paint chemistry, gloss level, surface preparation, corrosion protection, or formal approval status for your project.
When you order from MyPerfectColor, you are ordering paint matched to the selected Fed Std 595C 30111 reference, not an official government-issued coating system.
Will Fed Std 595C 30111 match an older in-service finish on my part?
It may not match an aged finish exactly, even if the code is correct. Weathering, sun fade, sheen change, texture, and the original coating system can all make an existing surface look different from a fresh match to Fed Std 595C 30111.
If the repair is acceptance-critical or very visible, a sample panel or match to the existing part is often the safer choice than relying on the standard reference alone.
What kinds of projects commonly use Fed Std 595C 30111?
A match of US Government Fed Std 595C 30111 is commonly used for specification-driven work such as equipment panels, brackets, housings, enclosures, fixtures, color-coded hardware, prototypes, mock-ups, and maintenance touch-up on parts called out by a government color standard.
It is better to treat this as a project reference color for fabrication, repair, or prototyping than as a decor choice.
Is Fed Std 595C 30111 enough to choose the right paint for indoor or outdoor service?
No. Fed Std 595C 30111 tells you the color target, but it does not determine whether the paint is best for interior use, exterior exposure, abrasion, chemical contact, or a specific substrate.
Choose the product format and coating type based on the service environment and the surface requirements of the job, then use the Fed Std 595C 30111 reference for the color match.
What product formats can I order for Fed Std 595C 30111?
MyPerfectColor can supply a match to Fed Std 595C 30111 in spray paint and other formats where offered for specification-driven color work. The color code is the reference target, while the product format should be chosen for the way you plan to apply it.
If you need touch-up work next to an older finish, consider whether a standard reference match is enough or whether you need to compare against the existing part first.
