Plan to recoat in about 1 to 2 hours, and allow about two weeks for full cure. If you are coating items like vent covers, pipe sections, brackets, or hardware, wait for full cure before heavy handling so the finish is less likely to mark.

Choose the finish based on how the part will be used and cleaned. Higher gloss finishes are usually more reflective and easier to wipe clean, while flatter finishes reduce reflection. The same Dulux 471 Whisper color can look different on a mailbox, grille, shelf bracket, or other part depending on sheen, so the finish choice affects the final appearance as well as durability and cleanup.

Start by cleaning the surface, removing grease, and letting it dry. Light scuffing can help when the surface is smooth and appropriate for it, and masking should be used to protect areas that should not be coated. It is also wise to test Dulux 471 Whisper on the actual item before doing the full part, especially on previously coated pieces, trim pieces, vents, or other objects where adhesion and appearance can change with the substrate.

Yes, but plastics can vary a lot, so do not assume every plastic will behave the same. MyPerfectColor spray paint sticks well to most plastics, but using the MyPerfectColor primer can improve adhesion on challenging surfaces. Test on the actual plastic first, especially for items like covers, grilles, housings, or other molded parts, because the material and its surface finish can change how 471 Whisper adheres and looks after drying.

A typical can of spray paint covers about 20 square feet with one coat, but real coverage depends on surface size, texture, hiding power, application method, and how many coats you need. For small parts like vents, pipe sections, shutters, mailboxes, brackets, or hardware, one can may be enough or may only cover part of the project depending on the shape and number of coats. Other paint formats typically cover much more, often about 400 to 600 square feet.
