PMS 2096 U is a Pantone PMS color defined as a precise visual target for brand and marketing applications. It reads as deep, bold, saturated, dramatic, and modern, with a purple character that leans toward magenta rather than neutral violet.
The color appears dark, with a Light Reflectance Value of 17.38, and has a cool overall tendency. Its moderately high saturation and subtle magenta undertone contribute to strong visual impact and a sense of depth.
PMS 2096 U performs well in brand-facing displays, signage, and fabricated elements where saturated color is intentional. Because of its darkness and saturation, surface preparation, finish choice, and lighting conditions can noticeably influence uniformity and perceived brightness, so evaluating a sample on the intended substrate is recommended.
Similar colors:
Pantone 2095 U: slightly lighter and less saturated, with a softer purple appearance.
Pantone 2097 U: darker and heavier, with reduced magenta vibrancy.
Pantone 2357 U: brighter and more chromatic, with a clearer magenta emphasis.

Pantone PMS 2096 U is a licensed color standard, not a paint formula. Licensed reproduction means the color match is produced using Pantone authorized targets and methods, which helps ensure the visual result aligns with the official PMS reference.
This matters for brand-facing work because unlicensed or informal matches can drift in hue or saturation. For PMS 2096 U, ordering from an authorized Pantone reproduction source reduces the risk of approval issues when color accuracy is reviewed against brand standards.
For Pantone PMS 2096 U, start with a clean, dry surface. Remove dust, oils, and residues using an appropriate cleaner or degreaser for the substrate.
Light scuffing can improve adhesion on smooth surfaces, followed by removing any sanding dust. Because substrates vary, it is best to apply a small test spot first to confirm adhesion, coverage, and appearance before proceeding with the full application.
VOC levels and safety requirements depend on the specific paint product and format selected for Pantone PMS 2096 U. There is no single VOC rating tied to the color itself.
Always review the Safety Data Sheet for the chosen product and follow the recommended handling, ventilation, and personal protection guidelines. This is especially important when applying paint in enclosed or production environments.
Yes. For Pantone PMS 2096 U, ordering a small sample is strongly recommended when brand approval or stakeholder signoff is required.
Evaluate the sample on the actual substrate and under the lighting where it will be used. This helps confirm visual acceptance, coverage expectations, and overall appearance before committing to a larger order.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2096 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
