Color summary

PMS 7546 U is a Pantone Matching System color used as a precise visual reference for brand and marketing applications, conveying a subdued, formal, serious, controlled, and low-key visual presence.

Color characteristics

The color appears very dark, with an LRV of 6.66, and shows a cool blue-violet tendency rather than a neutral navy. It exhibits low to moderate saturation, avoiding vivid intensity.

The color carries a subtle violet undertone that becomes more apparent in brighter lighting, and it can be sensitive to finish choice, with higher sheens emphasizing depth and surface variation.

Practical application

PMS 7546 U works well where a deep, controlled brand blue is required without the brightness of saturated corporate blues. Because of its darkness, careful surface preparation and even application can help reduce visible inconsistencies and sheen variation under directional lighting.

Similar colors:

PMS 7547 U: darker and more neutral, with reduced blue-violet expression.
PMS 2757 U: slightly lighter and clearer, with a more traditional navy appearance.
PMS 7687 U: lighter and more saturated, with increased blue clarity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7546 U

If I reorder PMS 7546 U later, how consistent will the color be between batches?

PMS 7546 U is matched to the Pantone Uncoated reference as a visual color target, not a fixed paint formula. To keep results consistent across reorders, use the same product type, sheen, and application method each time.

For critical brand work, keep a retained sample or approved panel from your first order and compare future orders to that reference under similar lighting. Changes in finish, substrate, or coating system can affect how PMS 7546 U appears, even when the Pantone target stays the same.

How do I order paint matched to Pantone PMS 7546 U on MyPerfectColor?

To order PMS 7546 U, start by selecting the paint format that fits your project, such as spray paint or another available paint type. Then choose the sheen, quantity, and any applicable options.

Make sure you keep the same choices if you plan future reorders, since changes in paint type or finish can alter the visual result. PMS 7546 U is matched to the Pantone Uncoated reference, so ordering accuracy is about selecting the correct format and finish for how the color will be viewed.

How does the finish affect how PMS 7546 U will look once applied?

Finish has a strong effect on how PMS 7546 U is perceived. Glossier finishes tend to make the color appear darker and more saturated, while matte finishes can look lighter and more muted.

Because PMS 7546 U is a brand color target, choose the finish based on the final viewing conditions and how the surface will be lit. If visual approval is important, evaluating a sample in the selected sheen and lighting helps reduce surprises.

What application approach works best for PMS 7546 U spray paint?

For PMS 7546 U spray paint, applying multiple light coats usually produces a more even color than trying to cover in one heavy pass. Thin coats help with uniform appearance and reduce surface issues.

Allow each coat to flash off before applying the next. Coverage and hide can vary based on substrate and finish, so plan for enough coats to reach a consistent visual match to the Pantone reference.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7546 U?

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 7546 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
