PMS 7413 U is part of the Pantone PMS system and is commonly specified as a brand or display color. It presents as warm, energetic, vivid, attention-grabbing, and visually assertive without reading fluorescent.
The color shows a mid-range lightness with an LRV of 29.26. It leans warm between yellow and orange and is highly saturated, giving it a strong, noticeable presence with a yellow-forward undertone.
PMS 7413 U works well in brand-facing environments where warmth and visibility are important. Because of its saturation, additional coats may be needed for even coverage, and a light primer can help maintain color clarity. Finish and lighting should be reviewed with a physical sample to confirm appearance.
Similar colors:
PMS 7412 U: slightly lighter and more yellow, with less orange depth.
PMS 7414 U: deeper and darker, with increased orange intensity.
PMS 7409 U: brighter and more yellow, with higher visual openness.

Pantone PMS 7413 U includes a suffix that identifies the Pantone series or reference context. The "U" matters because different Pantone suffixes can represent different printed standards or visual targets. When ordering paint matched to PMS 7413 U, you should confirm that your brand standards or documentation specifically call for the "U" version, not another series.
Pantone PMS codes are color communication standards, not paint formulas. Verifying the exact code and suffix before ordering helps avoid receiving a color that is technically correct but does not align with your intended brand reference.
Whether a primer is needed for Pantone PMS 7413 U depends on the paint type, the substrate, and the exposure conditions. Bare, porous, or uneven surfaces often benefit from a primer to improve adhesion and color uniformity.
Pantone matched colors are visual targets, and saturated colors like PMS 7413 U may show substrate influence if applied without proper preparation. Reviewing primer guidance for your specific paint format and surface helps reduce coverage issues and unexpected appearance changes.
Pantone color books are printed reference standards, while paint is applied to real substrates with specific finishes and sheens. Because of this, Pantone PMS 7413 U paint may not look identical to the color chip in a Pantone book.
Factors like sheen, surface texture, film thickness, and lighting can change how the color is perceived. For brand-critical applications, it is recommended to evaluate a sample of PMS 7413 U paint on the actual material and under the lighting where it will be used.
Pantone PMS 7413 U defines a color target, not where or how the paint should be used. Suitability for interior or exterior use depends on the specific paint type and its performance characteristics, such as durability and resistance to environmental exposure.
When ordering PMS 7413 U, choose a paint formulation designed for your intended environment. Interior projects and exterior installations have different performance needs, and selecting the correct paint type helps maintain appearance and longevity.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7413 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
