PMS 9180 U is a Pantone PMS color specified as a visual color target rather than a paint formula. It presents as light, fresh, restrained, modern, and airy, with a subtle yellow-green presence that reads clean rather than decorative.
The color appears very light, with a high Light Reflectance Value (LRV 80.73). It shows a gentle warm tendency due to its yellow-green hue, and its low chroma gives it a soft, muted appearance rather than a vivid one.
The color carries a faint green undertone that remains subtle in most lighting conditions. This helps it stay neutral-leaning while still offering a hint of color.
PMS 9180 U works well in brand-facing environments where a light, contemporary color is needed without drawing attention away from primary elements. Because of its lightness, surface preparation and primer choice can influence uniformity, especially over darker or uneven substrates, and testing under installed lighting can help confirm the intended appearance.
Similar colors:
PMS 9179 U: slightly warmer and more yellow, with less green influence.
PMS 9181 U: a touch cooler and more green-leaning, with marginally more chroma.

Pantone PMS 9180 U is a standardized Pantone color reference used to communicate a specific visual color target. When you order paint matched to PMS 9180 U, you are requesting a visual match to that Pantone standard, not a licensed Pantone formula or a guaranteed result across all materials.
The match is created to visually align with the Pantone reference under normal viewing conditions. It does not define the coating chemistry, finish, gloss level, or application method. Those factors must be selected separately and can influence how PMS 9180 U appears in real-world use.
Yes. PMS 9180 U is commonly used as a brand color target for signage, displays, and exhibit fabrication where visual brand consistency is the primary requirement. In these applications, the Pantone reference provides a shared standard that fabricators and marketers can align to.
Because appearance can vary by substrate, finish, and lighting, many projects benefit from reviewing a physical sample sprayed on the actual material. This is especially important for large or high-visibility installations where brand approval is required.
No. A Pantone code like PMS 9180 U defines a brand color target, not the exact color of an existing painted part. For touch-up-grade accuracy, the best path is to send a physical part or sample so the color can be matched directly to the real surface.
Pantone-based matching is best suited for brand reproduction and visual alignment, not for blending into aged, weathered, or production-applied coatings. If precise integration with an existing finish matters, a part-based match is the correct approach.
The Safety Data Sheet is determined by the paint product type, not by the Pantone color code. PMS 9180 U does not have its own SDS.
Once you select the specific paint format or coating system, the corresponding SDS can be found in the SDS library for that product. Always review the SDS for the exact product you plan to use.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 9180 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 9180 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
