PMS 9120 U is a Pantone PMS color used as a standardized visual reference for consistent color communication across vendors and materials. It conveys a light, clean, airy, contemporary, and approachable vibe without strong visual weight.

The color appears very light, with an LRV of 82.99. It reads as slightly warm, leaning toward yellow-green, with moderate saturation and a subtle yellow undertone that keeps it from feeling cool.

PMS 9120 U works well in brand-facing displays, prototypes, and marketing environments where a light, fresh green presence is needed without overpowering adjacent elements. Because of its lightness and moderate saturation, it may benefit from a light-colored primer and multiple thin coats to achieve even coverage, especially over darker or uneven substrates.

Finish choice and lighting can noticeably influence how open or muted the color appears, so testing in the intended environment can help confirm expectations.

Similar colors:

PMS 9121 U: slightly darker and more saturated, with increased green presence.
PMS 9104 U: lighter and more neutral, with reduced yellow influence.
PMS 9130 U: darker overall, with a clearer and more pronounced green character.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 9120 U

What should I expect for coverage and hide when applying PMS 9120 U paint?

PMS 9120 U is a light, vivid Pantone color, and colors in this range can have lower hide than neutral tones. When applied over darker or contrasting substrates, you should expect that additional coats may be required to achieve uniform color and brightness.

For brand-facing work, plan to test PMS 9120 U on the actual substrate and finish you intend to use. Evaluating coverage under your project lighting helps confirm that the color reads consistently and meets brand expectations before full production.

How do I order paint matched to Pantone PMS 9120 U on MyPerfectColor?

To order PMS 9120 U, start by selecting the paint format that fits your application, such as spray paint or another available format for branding and display work. Next, choose the appropriate sheen and quantity based on your coverage needs.

Pantone PMS codes define a visual color target, not a paint formula. The paint is custom matched to PMS 9120 U, so reviewing your selections carefully before checkout helps avoid ordering the wrong format or finish for your project.

Is PMS 9120 U suitable for prototypes and concept models?

Yes. PMS 9120 U is commonly used in prototypes and concept models where visual brand alignment is the priority. A Pantone match allows teams to evaluate how the color reads on form, scale, and different materials.

For prototype workflows, it is recommended to apply PMS 9120 U to the same substrates and finishes planned for production. This helps identify any coverage, sheen, or lighting effects early in the approval process.

What is the typical lead time for paint matched to PMS 9120 U?

Paint matched to PMS 9120 U is made to order. Standard production lead time depends on the selected paint type, quantity, and current production volume.

Because Pantone matches are custom mixed, they are not pulled from pre-made inventory. If your project has a fixed installation or marketing deadline, it is best to account for production time and shipping when placing your order.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 9120 U?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 9120 U depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 9120 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 9120 U to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 9120 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
