Step 1: Select Paint Type / Application

PMS 626 U is a Pantone PMS color specified within the Pantone Matching System as a standardized visual target. It conveys a subdued, serious, and controlled vibe with cool, deep, and reserved character rather than brightness or vibrancy.

The color appears very dark, with an LRV of 7.54. It reads as cool and blue-green, with low to moderate saturation that keeps the appearance muted rather than vivid.

A subtle blue undertone becomes more apparent under brighter or more directional lighting, while lower light levels can make the color appear nearly black.

PMS 626 U works well in brand environments that require depth and seriousness without visual noise, particularly where darker colors help reduce glare or visual dominance. Careful surface preparation and even application help avoid patchiness, and lighting evaluation is important due to the color’s low lightness.

Similar colors:

PMS 627 U: slightly darker and more neutral, with less visible blue-green separation.
PMS 628 U: lighter and more open, with increased green clarity.
PMS 554 U: darker and cooler, with a more subdued, gray-green character.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 626 U

What should I consider before using Pantone PMS 626 U in a pop-up or retail installation?

Pantone PMS 626 U is a brand color reference, not a paint formula, so the result depends on the product, finish, and lighting. For pop-ups and retail environments, plan to evaluate a physical sample of the matched paint on the actual substrate under installed lighting before committing to a full order.

Darker and more saturated Pantone colors like PMS 626 U can show changes in appearance based on sheen and light temperature, and they may need additional coats for uniform coverage. Sampling helps confirm visual acceptance and avoids surprises during brand approval.

How long does it take to receive paint matched to Pantone PMS 626 U?

Transit time for Pantone PMS 626 U paint depends on your location and the shipping method selected at checkout. Custom color orders are produced first and then shipped, so delivery timing is not the same as off-the-shelf products.

If you are working toward a fixed installation or launch date, allow extra time for production, shipping, and on-site evaluation. Ordering a sample ahead of the main order can help confirm acceptance without putting the schedule at risk.

What safety and VOC expectations apply to paint matched to Pantone PMS 626 U?

Pantone PMS 626 U defines the color target only. Safety characteristics, VOC content, and handling requirements depend on the specific paint product and format you choose.

Always review the Safety Data Sheet for the selected product and follow the manufacturer guidelines for ventilation, application, and personal protection. This is especially important when using paint in enclosed retail or event environments.

Is Pantone PMS 626 U suitable if I need an exact touch-up match?

Pantone PMS 626 U is intended for brand color reproduction, not for precision touch-up matching. If you need a touch-up-grade result that blends into an existing surface, a Pantone reference alone is usually not sufficient.

The correct approach is to send a physical part or sample for matching so the existing color, substrate, and finish can be evaluated directly. Pantone matching is best used for new brand-facing elements where visual alignment to the Pantone standard is the goal.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 626 U?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 626 U depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 626 U for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 626 U to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 626 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
