PMS 586 U is a Pantone Matching System color defined by a light yellow-green appearance with a fresh, optimistic character. It presents as clean and approachable, making it suitable for brand environments that need energy without visual heaviness.
The color appears light, with an LRV of 72.09, and leans warm due to its yellow-green hue. It has moderate saturation, reading clear rather than muted, and carries a soft yellow undertone that influences how it responds to lighting and finish.
PMS 586 U works well in branded displays, signage, and experiential components where a light green needs to remain visible and consistent. Because it is light and moderately saturated, it often benefits from a light or white primer and may require additional coats for uniform appearance, particularly over darker or uneven surfaces.
Similar colors:
PMS 585 U: slightly darker and more grounded, with reduced brightness.
PMS 587 U: lighter and softer, with a more pastel appearance.
PMS 5807 U: more muted and neutral, with less yellow intensity.

PMS 586 U is appropriate when a prototype or concept model needs to visually represent an approved Pantone brand color. The Pantone PMS code defines the color target, not a specific material or finish.
For prototyping, choose a paint format that fits the model scale and substrate, then plan to evaluate the color under the same lighting where the concept will be reviewed. This helps confirm that PMS 586 U communicates the intended brand appearance before moving to larger or final builds.
Yes. Ordering a small sample of PMS 586 U is recommended when the project involves formal brand approval or high visibility. Sampling lets stakeholders review the color on the actual substrate and under installed lighting.
This step helps identify any perception shifts caused by sheen, surface texture, or lighting before committing to a full production order.
The Pantone PMS code is the critical reference. "PMS 586 U" specifies both the color number and the Uncoated series, which defines the visual target.
Always include the full code with the U suffix when ordering. Omitting or changing the suffix can result in a different Pantone target and an unintended color outcome.
A standard Pantone PMS match to PMS 586 U is appropriate when visual brand alignment is the primary goal. This includes marketing displays, signage, exhibits, and concept models where the Pantone reference defines success.
For large installations or multi-material builds, confirming appearance with a sample first is advised, since finish, coverage, and lighting can influence how PMS 586 U is perceived.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 586 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
