PMS 529 U is a Pantone PMS color specified as a visual reference standard rather than a paint formula. It conveys a calm, understated violet character with a gentle, refined feel that reads composed rather than vivid.
The color presents a mid-range lightness with an LRV of 43.67 and reads as cool-leaning with a subtle blue-violet bias. It shows moderate saturation and carries a faint gray undertone that reduces visual intensity and glare.
PMS 529 U works well in controlled lighting where a restrained purple tone is desired without strong visual dominance. Softer finishes can help maintain its muted character, while glossier finishes may emphasize undertone shifts and surface variation.
As with many violet hues, consistent priming and even application can help avoid patchiness, especially over darker or high-contrast substrates.
Similar colors:
PMS 528 U: slightly lighter and more delicate, with a softer violet presence.
PMS 530 U: darker and more subdued, with increased gray influence.
PMS 529 C: more saturated and cleaner, with stronger purple clarity.

Yes. PMS 529 U is a Pantone Matching System color used as a brand standard target for signs, displays, and exhibit components. It defines the visual color reference that fabricators are expected to match, not a specific paint formula or finish.
For high-visibility elements, it is best to evaluate a sample of PMS 529 U on the actual substrate and finish you will use. Material, sheen, and lighting can all influence how the color appears in a fabricated environment.
Coverage for PMS 529 U spray paint depends on surface texture, application method, and the number of coats needed for uniform color. Smooth, primed surfaces require less material than raw or porous substrates.
Because brand colors can need multiple light coats for even appearance, it is practical to plan extra cans rather than rely on a single-can estimate. Ordering additional material helps avoid color variation from rushed application or running short mid-project.
Safety and VOC characteristics depend on the specific PMS 529 U product format you select, such as spray paint or other coatings. Always review the Safety Data Sheet for the exact product you are using.
Use paint products in well-ventilated areas, follow handling instructions, and wear appropriate protective equipment as recommended by the manufacturer.
PMS 529 U spray paint is best applied using multiple light coats rather than one heavy coat. This approach improves color uniformity and reduces the risk of runs or uneven texture.
Allow each coat to flash and dry before applying the next. Exact timing varies by product and conditions, so follow the instructions provided with the paint and adjust based on temperature, airflow, and substrate.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 529 U. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.
The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 529 U in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
